” Ye chand ye sitaare ye raat yaad rakhnaa” from film ” La’al-e-Yaman ” (1956) is the song no. 16 of the series. No songs from this movie are posted in the blog yet, but two songs from the 1933 movie of the same name are presented. This song is written by Kaifi Azmi and composed by AR Qureshi also known as Ustad Allah Rakkha. The recording is not really up to the mark and sounding older than the year of the film. The music is also sounding very period in this qawwali style composition.

“Joru Ka Bhai” (1955) was produced and directed by Chetan Anand for Mahshakti Films, Bombay. The movie had Balraj Sahni, Sheela Ramani, Johnny Walker, Rasheed Khan, Praveen Pal, Kumkum, Radhika, Vijay Anand etc. in it. This is the eighth song out of ten from the movie. (The remaining two songs are the two parts of a song with same ‘mukhada’, “Baat Meri Maan Le”.) Kishore and S Balbir are singing this in typical Kishore’s humorous style. They start the song with religious color but soon shift to the more popular subject, that is ‘ishq’. Vishwamitra Adil wrote the lyrics for this song.

A short career of five years from 1948 to 1952. Just 20 films. Less than sixty songs. And then, a departure from Bombay, and back to Delhi. Settled into family life, and made a famous career with Punjabi folk music, that lasted well over six decades. But never headed to Bombay again.
