Lyrics(Provided by Prakashchandra)

ho maine maanaa mere meet
mere nahin tere geet
par nikle na dil se preet
deewaanee
preet na jaane reet
deewaanee preet na jaane reet
ho maine maanaa mere meet
mere nahin tere geet
par nikle na dil se preet
deewaanee
preet na jaane reet
deewaanee preet na jaane reet

jag kyaa jaane dil ki kasmein
dil kyaa jaane jag ki rasmein
jag kyaa jaane dil ki kasmein
dil kyaa jaane jag ki rasmein
ye tode rasmein
par chhode na preet
deewaanee
preet na jaane reet
deewaanee
preet na jaane reet
ho maine maanaa mere meet
mere nahin tere geet
par nikle na dil se preet
deewaanee
preet na jaane reet
deewaanee
preet na jaane reet

kaash tu kartaa mujh se jafaayein
yaad na aati teri wafaayein
kaash tu kartaa
mujh se jafaayein
yaad na aati teri wafaayein
main kaise bhooloon
tujhe mann ke meet
deewaanee
preet na jaane reet
deewaanee
preet na jaane reet
ho maine maanaa mere meet
mere nahin tere geet
par nikle na dil se preet
deewaanee
preet na jaane reet
deewaanee
preet na jaane reet

About B.Saroja Devi, Lyricist Hasrat Jaipuri commented very ruthlessly once in his Vividhbharti radio interview, while talking about his famous Sasural(1961)creation for Shankar jaikishan/Rafi solo picturised on Rajendra Kumar and B.Saroja Devi-
He commented regarding how one can take away the charm of well written song, by picturising it badly and commented-> “Teri pyaari pyaari soorat ko ” iss gaane ko South ki kissi “Bud-soorat heroine ke oopar picturise kiyaa gayaa hai”

I think most probably he is commenting on her dark Complexion, which is a very common feature among South indian actresses. But she is a star in her own right in South Indian film industry.

Hope B.Saroja Devi don`t read this 🙂 and her fans also don`t read this:)
Me and my mother while listening to that interview on that afternoon felt bad, because after all she is one of our south indian film industry famous heroine and gave many hits to Kannada movie industry.

That was a crude and insensitive remark by Hasrat Jaipuri, and that too in a public medium. Beauty is in any case in the eye of the beholder.

We thought in the same way and commented “must be Hasrat ji old age ke kaaran restless hoke aisse hi bol diye, (aur commented that Vyjayantimala ke oopar to ye gaanaa khoob jhanchtha tha)

Aur ek baat,
make up ke binaa woh buri lagthi hogi(buri lagthi bhi hai :),
ab bhi woh apne old age mein kuchch zyaada hi(aisaa mujhe lagtaa hai ,it is strictly my personal opinion) make up(apne umr ko desparately chhupaane ke liye try karthi hai, aissa lagthaa hai) lagaake public function mein dikhaayi deti hai, to lagtaa hai, Hasrat ji got a point with his comment.Meri maa jo Saroja devi ke bahut badi fan hai, woh bhi aisse hi opinion rakhthi hai to, Hasrat ji teek hi kehthe honge.

(aur ek baat hai, Hindi movie industry hameshaa south indian heroines(woh unn actresses ko “madraasi heroines” bolte hain) ke baare mein kuchch aisse hi comments pass karte maine observe kiyaa hai.

ye kuchch zyaada hi ho gayaa lagtaa hai, main ab apni raam kahaani rokthaa hoon

When Hasrat was knowing on whom it is going to be picturised he should not have written the so called good song or better still allow Shailendra to write one.
Liliting Lata.
