For people who grew up in the satellite TV era viz 1990s, the practice of naming the title of one’s production with the letter K began with Ekta Kapoor. But for people of my generation, who grew up three decades ago, it was Arjun Hingorani, who pioneered such usage of the letter K way back in 1970s when Ekta Kapoor was not even born ! Moreover, Arjun Hingorani’s movies would have three words and each word would begin with the letter K ! Sample the titles of his movies:- ”Kab Kyun aur Kahaan” (1970), “Kahaani Kismat Ki” (1973), “Khel Khilaadi Ka” (1977), “Kaatilon Ke Kaatil”(1981) and “Kaun Kare Kurbaani” (1991).

The hero in all these movies used to be Dharmendra. Though Dharmendra’s name did not begin with K, he compensated for it by generous usage of K words in his dialogues, viz “Kutte”, “kameene”, “khoon” (pi jaunga), etc.

“Kahaani Kismat Ki” (1973) is a movie that I fondly remember because its song Rafta rafta dekho aankh meri ladi hai was very popular during its time, especially in the weekly programmes of Binaca geetmala. People would wait for the part where Rekha goes-“Arre maine to aisa nahin kaha thha”. 🙂

I never got to watch this movie, though. I only listened to its songs, or rather this “rafta rafta” song. I did not have any clue about the other songs of this movie, though I got to listen to some of them on radio, without being aware that they belonged to this movie.

Now, over four decades later, I have come to know only just now that this movie had five songs in it and that as many as four of these songs have been discussed in the past.

Here is the fifth and final song from this movie. This song is a seduction cum strip tease song, which is sung by Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on Leena Das. She does her seduction bit for the benefit of Arjun Hingorni. Yes, the producer director of the movie tries his hand playing the role of an aiyyaash in the picturisation. Unknown to them,Dharmendra is hiding in the room and he does like all this aiyyaashi as befits a Hindi movie hero of puritanical upbringing. 🙂

Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.

Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra.

With this song, “Kahaani Kismat Ki”(1973) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

PS-Another K movie, viz “Kismat”(1943) too had all its songs covered in the blog quite some time back but I became aware of this fact only recently and I have taken that into account only just now.

ye dard hi dawaa
hai ke nahin hai
iss dard ko jis ne paalaa aaaa
iss dard ko jis ne paalaa
wahi kehlaayaa dilwaalaa
toone dil mein aag lagaayee
tu hi aag bujhaa
tu yaar hai meraa
dildaar hai meraa

tu pyaar hai meraa
tu hai main hoon tanhaayee hai
aur yahaan pe koyee nahin hai
ab to galey lagaa…aaa
lagaa naa…aaaa

tu yaar hai meraa
dildaar hai meraa
tu yaar hai meraa
dildaar hai meraa
haan..aaan…tu yaar hai meraa
