“Geet” (1944) was produced by A R Kardar and directed by S U Sunny. The movie had Chanda, Shahu Modak, Nirmala, Amir Ali, Shakir Ali, A Shah, Zahid Ali etc in it.

Six songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the seventh song from “Geet”(1944) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Shahu Modak and Nirmala Devi. Lyricist of this song is not known. Music is composed by Naushad.

Only the audio of this song is available. It is clear that the song was picturised Shahu Modak and Nirmala Devi themselves.

I have not been able to decipher some words in the lyrics. I request our readers with keener ears to tell us what words they may be.

Song-Bedard zamaana arre bedard zamaana dhokhe ki ye duniya hai yahaan dil na lagaana(Geet)(1944) Singers-Shahu Modak, Nirmala Devi, MD-Naushad

Lyrics

bedard zamaana
arre bedard zamaana
dhokhe ki ye duniya hai
yahaan dil na lagaana
tum dil na lagaana

?? jhalak mein kabhi ban ban ke sitaare
hote hain agar unki nigaahon ke ishaare
ham ishq ki baazi kabhi jeete kabhi haare
gaate bhi rahe phir bhi mohabbat ka taraana
dhokhe ki ye duniya hai
yahaan dil na lagaana
tum dil na lagaana
rut kitni suhaani hai
ghata jhoom rahi hai
titli ki tarah mast hawa ghoom rahi hai
hansti hui kaliyon ke kadam choom rahi hai
aise mein koi dard bhara geet sunaana
dhokhe ki ye duniya hai
yahaan dil na lagaana
tum dil na lagaana

beeti hui raaton ko zara phir se bulaa kar
wo prem ki baaten
kabhi hans kar kabhi gaa kar
in mast nigaahon ko
aa aa
in mast nigaahon ko
nigaahon se milaa kar
ik teer kaleje pe mere aur lagaana
dhokhe ki ye duniya hai
yahaan dil na lagaana
tum dil na lagaana

zinda hoon abhi tak main tamanna ke sahaare
doobe nahin ab tak meri aasha ke sitaare
ummeed ke toofaan e mohabbat ke kinaare
tum chaaho to ho jaayega mera bhi thhikaana
dhokhe ki ye duniya hai
yahaan dil na lagaana
tum dil na lagaana
bedard zamaana
arre bedard zamaana
dhokhe ki ye duniya hai
yahaan dil na lagaana
tum dil na lagaana
