While discussing the HFM related statistics pertaining to 1932, I had mentioned that only nine songs from movies of 1932 are available. Six of these songs are already covered in the blog.

Here is the seventh song of 1932 to appear in the blog. This song is from “Aankh Ka Taara”(1932). This song too is sung by Jahanara KajjanIndubala, the leading lady of the movie. Like the other available song from the movie, this song is a Krishn bhajan as well.

Lyricist of this song is not known. Music is composed by Motilal Naik.

I am not satisfied with the lyrics of the song that I have noted down. There may be lots of inaccuracies in it. I request our readers with keener ears to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections in the lyrics wherever applicable.

Having discussed this song, now only two available songs of 1932, one each from “Ayodhya Ka Raaja” and “Meerabai” remain to be discussed in the blog.

Song-Hai kya kya jalwa bhara hua (Aankh Ka Taara)(1932) Singer-Indubala, MD-Motilal Naik

Lyrics

????
Hai kya kya jalwa bhara hua
ghanshyam tumhaari aankhon mein
Hai kya kya jalwa bhara hua
ghanshyam tumhaari aankhon mein

ghanshyam tumhaari aankhon mein
main dekha saari duniya ka
deedaar tumhaari aankhon mein
main dekha saari duniya ka
deedaar tumhaari aankhon mein
Hai kya kya jalwa bhara hua

tum maar bhi sakte ho pal mein
tum maar bhi sakte ho pal mein
tum taar bhi sakte ho pal mein
hai bhara hua is amrit ka bhandaar
tumhaari aankhon mein
Hai kya kya jalwa bhara hua
ghanshyam tumhaari aankhon mein
Hai kya kya jalwa bhara hua

ye rachna aur ?? ki hai
ye rachna aur ?? ki hai
kya moorat roop viraat bhi hai
sansaar ki aankh mein tum ho
sansaar tumhaari aankhon mein
sansaar ki aankh mein tum ho
sansaar tumhaari aankhon mein
Hai kya kya jalwa bhara hua

din bhar mein ?? rachaawat ho
din bhar mein ?? rachaawat ho
pal bhar mein ise phir mitaawat ho
hai kos kos bramhaand bhara
sarkaar tumhaari aankh mein
Hai kya kya jalwa bhara hua

vyaapak ho bramha charaachar mein
aan aan aan

aan aan aan
vyaapak ho bramha aa charaachar mein
?? tu naari nar mein
ab ?? aan baso
sarkaar hamaari aankhon mein
ab ?? kar apna
aan baso
sarkaar hamaari aankhon mein
hai kya kya jalwa bhara hua
ghanshyam tumhaari aankhon mein
Hai kya kya jalwa

The tune is traditional generally used in the bhajan(in this case also) Later on it was employed umpteen times. Great stuff.

Mr. Shalin Bhatt, who has also uploaded this song on Youtube has made the following comment:
Mr. Shalin Bhatt:
“It doesn’t sound like Jahanara Kajjan to me. The voice is nearly identical to Indubala’s, though, and I had seen the name of these songs listed in a discography of her records previously. Compare to other early 1930s recordings by her and you’ll notice the similarity.”

Makes me wonder about the factual position.

Atul ji,

As per SIRC’s Record News (Link : http://dsal.uchicago.edu/books/trn/pdfs/trn_2008.pdf ), this song as well as ‘dijo darshan mujhe’ have been sung by Indubala and the Record No. is P. 10492.(HMV).

Indubala also acted in this film.

Atul ji,

Please change the name of the singer from Jahanara Kajjan to Indubala.
