ghar mera ujad gaya
zindagi chali gayi

aashiyaan mera jala
aur main dekhta raha
uski yaad ke siwa
mere paas kya raha
kya raha
ghar mera ujad gaya
zindagi chali gayi

ek khwaab ban gaya
aaj tu mere liye
chha gayin udaasiyaan
chaar su mere liye
bujh gaya charaag-e-dil
raushni chali gayi

dil mera ujad gaya
zindagi chali gayi

pyaar jab jawaan hua
maut meharbaan huyi

dil ka jab chaman khila
khatm daastaan huyi
daastaan huyi

dil to reh gaya magar dilkashi chali gayi

Thanks Atulji, I was missing this beautiful and really melancholic song.(I am referring to solo version sung by Manna De.)
In early 60s, a mentally deranged, shabby street urchin, probably in his early 30s,without any clothes on his bare body, used to loiter in crowded streets of Aminabad market of Luvknow. I never saw him begging but always found him babbling, to no one in particular, in indistinct words-वो आयेगी ,…वो आयेगी ,(English meanig-She will come,….Yes she will come).People said that he was waiting for the return of his beloved, who might have abandoned him and could be responsible for his present mental state.
When Paalki was released in Capital theatre of Lucknow in 1967,the movie-buffs were of the opinion that the character singing the above song in the movie intermittently and once while offering his prayer at a tomb was inspired from the pitiable loiterer of Aminabad. Naushad who belonged to Lucknow might be aware of this mad Romeo.
