“Swaami”(1977) was produced by Jaya Chakravarty (Hema Malini’s mother) and directed by Basu Chatterji for Jayasarthy Combines. This movie was based on a novel of Sharatchandra Chattopadhyay. The movie had Girish Karnad, Vikram, Shabana Azmi, Shahikala, Reetu Kamal, Dheeraj Kumar, Preeti Ganguly, Sudha Shivpuri, Utpal Dutt, Suresh Chatwal, Vinita Dutt/Das, Somnath, Vinod Dewan, Karthik Dutta, Deepak Kumar etc in it with Hema Malini and Dharmendra in guest appearances.
The movie had four songs in it. Three of these songs have already been covered in the past.
Here is the fourth and final song from “Swaami”(1977) to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Yesudas. Amit Khanna is the lyricist. Music is composed by Rajesh roshan.
The song is picturised as a dance performance song in the presence of a family gathering. Hema Malini and Dharmendra, the guest artists in the movie make their cameo appearance in this wonderful stage performance song. They are watched by a housefull audience of villagers, with Shabana Azmi, Preeti Ganguly, Shashikala and Ritu Kamal also visible in the audience.
The lyrics of this song were sent to me by Prakashchandra long ago, and I had in fact planned to discuss this song in 2014 as song number 10130. I have no idea how I missed my plan at that time.
Better late than never. Here is this nice song from “Swaami”(1977) that is bound to cheer up the readers. With this song, “Swaami”(1977) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

I think somewhere I have read that Jaya Chakravarthy, Hema Malini`s mother wanted Girish Karnad to marry Hema malini, That`s why she casted Girish Karnad(so that Girish and Hema come closer together, in 2 of their home productions one
Swami and
another Ratnadeep(1979)(alongwith Hema Malini)(director:Basu Chatterjee)(I think the producers of Ratnadeep are relatives of Hema Malini, I am not very sure, If I am wrong……..please correct me)
I think If I am not wrong I have read it in Girish Karnad`s autobiography…..

Swami mein Girish Karnad ke saath nahin the, ………but Hema malini and her mother are producers of Swami
