“Pagdandi”(1947) was directed by Ram Narayan Dave for Pancholi Art. The movie had Padma, Akhtar, Gyaani, Om Prakash, Akhtari etc in it.

Two songs from the movie has been discussed in the past.

Here is the third song from “Pagdandi”(1947) to appear in the blog. HFGK is silent about the names of the singers for all songs of this movie. It appears that Zeenat Begam was the main female singer in this movie. This female solo song could be in the voice of Zeenat Begam. Personally I have yet to be able to recognise her voice. I request our knowledgeable readers familiar with the voices of that era to help us recognise this voice.

D N Madhok is the lyricist. Music is composed by Khursheed Anwar.

Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

Song-Ambuwaa pe gaaye koyaliya gaane (Pagdandi)(1947) Singer-Zeenat Begam, Lyrics-D N Madhok, MD-Khursheed Anwar

Lyrics

ambuvaa pe gaaye koyaliyaa gaane ae

tohe main pyaar karoon
itnaa qusoor meraa

jabse milaaye nainaa baalam tose
kachhu naahin soojhe maikaa
kachhu na bane hai mose
jabse milaaye nainaa baalam tose
kachhu naahin soojhe maikaa
kachhu na bane hai mose
raat-din jiyaraa lagaa sataane ae
raat-din jiyaraa lagaa sataane ae
aa more baalam kisi bahaane
ambuvaa pe gaaye koyaliyaa gaane ae
aa more baalam kisi bahaane

ambuvaa pe gaaye koyaliyaa gaane

Its Zeenat’s voice alright.
Another singer was Munawwar Sultana who had a solo and a duet with Zeenat.. Other songs’ singer not identifiable. Could be any one of them.
