“Baadshah” (1964) was directed by Chandrakant Gaud for Navkala Niketan, Bombay. the movie had Dara Singh, Nishi, Tiwari, Kumari Rani, Keshav, Raja Haksar, Radheshyam, Kumud Tripathi, Uma Khosla, Mumtaz Begam, Rafiq Sultana, Sheila Devi, Shamina, Shanta Hiranandani etc in it.

The movie had six songs in it. Five songs from the movie have been discussed in the blog in the past.

Here is the sixth and final song from “Baadshah”(1964) to appear in the blog. this song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and chorus. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by N Datta.

This song is a superb qawwaali which deserves to be better known. The song is lip synced by Shakeela Bano Bhopali who was herself a great qawwaal but somehow she was made to lip sync in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in most of her filmy qawaalis.

HFGK describes this qawwali as sung by Asha Bhonsle and Poorna Seth. I can only detect Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the song with chorus. So I will go by what I hear in this song. I request our readers with keener ears to tell us if any second distinct female voice can be detected in this song.

With this song, “Baadshah”(1964) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Song-Nigaah e yaar chaahe to…muhabbat mein agar daaman (Baadshah)(1964) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-N Datta

Lyrics

nigaah e yaar chaahe to
hamaara imtahaan le le
ye dil kya cheez hai
dilbar agar chaahe to o jaan le le
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa
muhabbat mein agar daaman kisi ka thhaam lete hain
muhabbat mein agar daaman kisi ka thhaam lete hain
mohabbat mein agar daaman kisi ka thhaam lete hain
ye deewaane ae
ho o o o
ye parwaane ae
ho o o
ye mastaane jiyen jab tak
usi ka naam lete hain

ho o o
o o
o o o
o o o
agar tanhaai mein unse nahin hoti mulaakaaten
bhari mehfil mein hoti hain
sanam se ae is tarah baaten
haan aan aan aan
agar tanhaai mein unse nahin hoti mulaakaaten
bhari mehfil mein hoti hai sanam se is tarah baaten
ki ham apni nigaahon se jubaan ka kaam lete hain
ye deewaane ae
aa aa aa aa
ye parwaane ae
aa aa aa
ye mastaane jiye jab tak
usi ka naam lete hain
mohabbat mein agar daaman kisi ka thhaam lete hain

aa aa aa
aa aa aa
aa aa aa
aa aa aa
nahin ye baat ki hamko zamaane ne nahin toka aa aa aa
zamaana kya ke khud hamne hazaaron baar hai roka
aa aa aa aa
nahin ye baat ki hamko zamaane ne nahin toka
zamaana kya ke khud hamne hazaaron baar hai roka
agar tadpe bina ye dil kahaan aaraam lete hain
ye deewaane ae ae
ho o o o
ye parwaane ae
ho o o
ye mastaane jiye jab tak
usi ka naam lete hain
mohabbat mein agar daaman kisi ka thhaam lete hain

aa aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa aa aa aa
bhala pehle uthhi kiski nigaah
ho faislaa kaise ae ae
zamaane de kise
aakhir saza
ho o
faisalaa kaise
aa aa aa aa
bhala pehle uthhi kiski nigaah
ho faislaa kaise
zamaane de kise
aakhir saza
ho
faisalaa kaise
na wo ilzaam lete hain
na ham ilzaam lete hain
ye deewaane ae ae
ho o o o
ye parwaane ae
ho o o
ye mastaane jiye jab tak
usi ka naam lete hain
ye mastaane jiye jab tak
usi ka naam lete hain
mohabbat mein agar daaman kisi ka thhaam lete hain

YYIIPPEEEE!!!!

Shakila is lipsync Asha’s voice. Maybe in chorus they both may be singing. But I still think there is only voice of Asha even in chorus.
