Hullo to all atulwaale

I am desperately trying to stop myself from writing anything in praise of Sunil Dutt (6 june 1929- 25 may 2005). I am trying to avoid writing anything that is already written here on the blog or anywhere else in the cyber world.

I will not write that he was born Balraj Dutt in June 1928 in Jhelum of Punjab. We all know that when he was 18 and Partition of India happened, a Muslim, his father’s friend, saved his entire family and they settled in Yamuna Nagar which is in Haryana today. (I must confess here that I didn’t know this about Sunil Dutt and this information I got courtesy Wikipedia).

What we all, also know, is that on shifting to Bombay he took up a job in BEST undertaking during his undergraduate days and later worked in the Hindi service of Radio Ceylon. So, without telling anything about “Railway Platform” 1955 I will move on to say that he was a very handsome and tall enough to make any girl swoon even when he was a dacoit- remember “Mujhe Jeene Do”, “Heera” and “Badle Ki Aag”. I was a fan of his lawyer character from “Waqt” and Bhola of “Padosan” especially when Kishore Kumar tries to teach him the “Do-Re-Mi” of Indian music oops I mean “Sa-Re-GA-Ma-Pa”. And oh, yes, I cannot even forget Hari Prasad Sharma father of Murli Prasad Sharma in “Munnabhai M.B.B.S”. “Munnabhai M.B.B.S.” was his last release; which came ten years after “Kshatriya”.

Today (6 june 2017) on the occasion of his 88th birth-date (he would have been 88) here is a song from “Zindagi Zindagi” (1972). This movie had seven songs, all written by Anand Bakshi and S.D. Burman was the music director.

The first song was posted on 29th august 2008. Atulji posted the next song the very next day. The third song came a full four years later. And the fourth came last year, another four-year gap.

Today’s song was posted on facebook by a friend of mine on 25th May on the occasion of his death anniversary, the same one who keeps giving me quizzes on C. Ramachandra songs after he hears them on Vividh Bharathi’s Bhoole Bisre Geet. I must thank him for introducing me to this song which has a very good message in it. I loved it on hearing hope it has the same effect on all Atulsongaday followers. Here Sunil Dutt is seen with Chhaaya Devi and a few kids.

Remembering Sunil Dutt on his birth anniversary (5 june 2017).

Song-Teri meri meri teri zaat kya hai (Zindagi Zindagi)(1972) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-S D Burman

Peevesie’s Mom ji,

I will give you some new information.
Sunil Dutt, during his struggling days in Mumbai, stayed in the slums of Bandra. He was accompanied by Rajendra Kumar and Lyricist/Comedian kumud Tripathi also in that Zopadi. Sunil and Rajendra Kr. became Heros but never forgot Kumud Tripathi. Both of them used to call Kumud Tripathi on their Birthdays to their homes every year.
