“Surajmukhi”(1950) was directed by O P Datta for Madhuban Pictures, Bombay. The movie had Shyam, Rehana, Gope, Yashodara Katju, Randhir, Durga Khote, Hafeez Khan, Cuckkoo etc in it.
The movie had ten songs in it that were penned by three lyricists but names of individual lyricists are not known for ten of these songs.
One song from the movie has been covered in the past.
Here is the second song from “Surajmukhi”(1950) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Geeta Dutt. Lyricist is not known. Music is composed by Husnlal Bhagatram.
Geeta Dutt’s voice appears in seven out of the ten songs of the movie. That makes me think that she had given playback for the leading lady, viz Rehana, in the movie. Nevertheless, I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

Lyrics
saajan tumne chhoda humko
saajan tumne chhoda humko
hamne duniya chhod di ee
hamne duniya chhod di
dil maange marne ki dua
dil maange marne ki dua
jeene ki tamanna chhod di
haaye tamanna chhod di
tumne meri duniya chhodi
pyaar ki dor ko tod diya aa
tumne meri duniya chhodi
pyaar ki dor ko tod diya aa
pyaar ki dor ko tod diya
humne pyaar ki dor na todi
humne pyaar ki dor na todi
saari duniya chhod di
saari duniya chhod di
saajan tumne chhoda humko
hamne duniya chhod di
hamne duniya chhod di
maine to apni naiya ka
tujhe khiwaiyya samjha thha
maine to apni naiya ka
tujhe khiwaiyya samjha thha
tujhe khiwaiyya samjha thha
kyun gham ke toofaan mein toone
kyun gham ke toofan mein toone
meri naiya chhod di
haaye naiya chhod di
saajan tumne chhoda humko
saajan tumne chhoda humko
hamne duniya chhod di
hamne duniya chhod di

Savitri ji,
Maybe the song you are searching for is –
dil se bhula do tum hamen
hum na tumhen bhulaayenge
rooth ke jaane waale
hum duniya se rooth jaayenge
This song is from the 1949 film ‘Patanga’, and is available on our blog at
I hope this is correct.
