Blog Day : 3469 Post No. : 13928

The New Year according to Gregorian Calendar started 16 days ago on 1 january 2018. Like most people, we too made new year resolutions. Unlike most people, our new year resolutions of posting one “debutant” song and one “YIPPEE” song daily is still being followed regularly.

Day before yesterday (14 january 2018) was Makar Sakranti and that marked the beginning of another new year, viz Hindu new year. Why we should not make new year resolutions on this occasion as well. In our case, we can resolve to continue our new year resolutions of Gregorian calendar new year. 🙂

The commencement of Hindu new year coincided with the blog clocking one crore (ten millions) visitors to the blog. Is it a coincidence that it happened on this day ! Or is it divine scheme of things. The blog began just under ten years ago on 19 july 2008. Why this date and no other day ? It was much later (in fact only in 2017) that I realised that the Hindu month of Shrawan had started on 19 july 2008, which traditionally provided the most number of songs to HFM. So, I feel that the same divine scheme of things were being played out and implemented at that time as well.

That is not all. Much later, we posted out song post number 11111, which discussed a special song that had voices of four legendary singers. When Sudhir Ji, the author of that wrteup looked back at the blog posts number 1, 11, 111 and 1111, he discovered an amazing pattern. These four songs were solo songs sung by the same four singers, and in the same order in which they lend their voices in the song post number 11111 !

That is not all. I have noticed coincidences involving me that are even more amazing, and they are not limited to this blog. I have shared one amazing coincidence with my friends (including some in this blog as well) that will convince people that these coincidences are some grander scheme of things planned by higher forces. 🙂

Coming to my observations that we need to reiterate our new year resolutions (Gregorian calender version) on new year (Hindu calender version) as well. On the first day of this year (viz Yesterday 15 january 2018), only the first half of the half the resolution (viz posting a debutant song for the day) was fulfilled till late in the night. Sudhir Ji had posted a “debutant” post for the day. I had noticed that he had planned for a “YIPPEE” post as well. But seeing that the “debutant” post had appeared so late, I was afraid that it might become a race against time to fully fulfil the new year resolution. So I decided to lend a helping hand to Sudhir Ji. I prepared this “YIPPEE” writeup and I decided to post it in case Sudhir Ji was strapped for time (which he certainly is these days).

Fortunately, I found that Sudhir Ji succeeded in posting the YIPPEE writeup just in the nick of time yesterday night, and it was that rollicking title song of “China Town”(1962), viz. Rangeen bahaaron se hai gulzaar China Town.

So the song that I had kept as the backup YIPPEE song was not required.

Today (16 january 2018), we find ourself in the same situation as yesterday. The “debutant” movie of the day was done and dusted with first thing in the morning by Sudhir Ji. Sudhir Ji then asked me for the list of YIPPiable movies, aiming to post the YIPPEE movie of today as well, while I concentrated on the O P Nayyar tribute post.

After the O P Nayyar tribute post was published late, I found that Sudhir Ji has prepared for the YIPPEE song of the day, and it was a song that was not available online as far as I can tell. But like last night, we are against racing against time and I do not find Sudhir Ji at the keyboard right now. So I feel that I need to step in and publish the backup YIPPEE song that I had prepared yesterday. That way, Sudhir Ji can publish his YIPPEE article on the next day.

The song that I have in mind is from “Khazaana”(1951). It is sung by Lata. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by C Ramchandra.

This song, the eighth and final song from “Khazaana”(1951) is a “joie de vivre” song sung on a moonlit night by a lady in love. This must have been the brief by the music director to the lyricist and what superb lyrics Rajinder Krishan comes up with. And the rendering of this song is divine. After listening to the honey like voice of Lata, I would not like to listen to this voice in any other voice. This is inspired singing at its peak.

“Khazaana”(1951) was produced by Bakshi Jang Bahadur and directed by M Sadiq for Bakshi Brothers, Bombay. This movie had Madhubala, Nasir Khan, Gope, Om Prakash, Cuckoo, Ramesh Thakur, Gujri, Abbas etc. in it.

So going by the cast, it is clear that this song was picturised on Madhubala. Lata singing and Madhubala lip syncing. It would have been a sight for the eyes if the video was available. But it seems that only the audio of this song is available and that too has ended up becoming an obscure song with time. The song deserves to be much better known among music lovers. It is an archtypical “chhaayaageet” song, best heard at night time, with majority of people fast asleep in the comforts of their “razaai”. 🙂

With this song, “Khazaana”(1951) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

Song – Soyi soyi chaandni hai khoyi khoyi raat hai (Khazaana)(1951) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-C Ramchandra

Lyrics

soyi soyi chaandni hai
soyi soyi chaandni hai
khoyi khoyi raat hai

soyi soyi chaandni hai
soyi soyi chaandni hai
khoyi khoyi raat hai
naya naya pyaar hai ye

gori gori chaandni mein jiya madhosh hai
ae ae ae ae

gori gori chaandni mein jiya madhosh hai
tum mere paas ho

bas itna hi hosh hai
itna hi hosh hai
dil mein khushi
dheemi ?? barsaat hai
nayi nayi baat hai
soyi soyi chaandni hai
soyi soyi chaandni hai
khoyi khoyi raat hai
naya naya pyaar hai ye
nayi nayi baat hai
soyi soyi chaandni hai

jhuki jhuki ankhiyan mein man ki tarang hai
ae ae ae ae
hmm hmm hmm hmm
jhuki jhuki ankhiyan mein man ki tarang hai
masti mein jhoom raha
masti mein jhoom raha mera ang ang hai
mera ang ang hai
duniya na jaane sainyya
teri meri baat hai
nayi nayi baat hai
soyi soyi chaandni hai
soyi soyi chaandni hai
khoyi khoyi raat hai
naya naya pyaar hai ye
nayi nayi baat hai
soyi soyi chaandni hai

Dear Atul ji,

I was / am very much at the keyboard. 😀

Rgds
Sudhir

Hullo Atulji
First and foremost a Yyiippeeee!!!! for “Khazaana”.
I think we r doing our bit in enriching the English language. First Pradeepji gave us a lovely term *yyiippeeee* which we took to another level by making it a adverb to be used in “yyiippeeeed movies”. Today I find we ve given it one more new form “yippiable” . I remember we have also once used the term “yyiipping”. So many new words in atuldom vocabulary. 😉

Thanks Atulbhai, for remembering THIS song, one of my favorites. Whenever I am little free, my home is filled with ONLY Lata’s songs, as I FULLY agree with a sentence in your write-up:
“After listening to the honey like voice of Lata, I would not like to listen to any other voice.”
