Missing Films of 1960s – 54
– – – – – – – – – – – – – – –

‘Mohabbat Aur Jung’ seems to be a rare and obscure film from 1967. The video of this song is available online, but not much information about the film is available. Existence of the video indicates that the film is in public domain. However, neither the film, nor any other song from this film is as yet uploaded.

The information in the Geet Kosh is also not complete. It identifies this as a stunt film, from the banner of Uppal Productions, Bombay. The list of actors, and the director’s name, both are not available. The uploader has indicated a list of names, viz., Radha Saluja, Ram Mohan, Helen, Shankar, purportedly to be a short list of actor names in this film. Film’s director is S Azim. The list of actors is Randhawa, Helen, Indira, Sunder, Ram Mohan, Sherry, Sujata Bakshi.
[Ed Note: The names of actors, and that of the director are provided by dear Sadanand ji, based on the information on the film poster. Thanks Sadanand ji.]

In terms of songs also, only two songs are listed in the Geet Kosh, with an indication that there are more. The lyricist is identified as Taj Bhopali and the music direction is by Iqbal Qureshi.

This song is sung by Krishna Kalle. I am not certain of the identity of the on screen performer. Is she a young Radha Saluja, a few years younger than what we see her as in ‘Doraaha’, her better known film from 1971. I request other knowledgeable readers and friends to please help to confirm or correct.
[Ed Note: As per information provided by our dear Prakash ji, the on screen performer is Sujata Bakshi. Thanks Prakash ji.]

The song is a ‘calling the beloved’ type of song, as the protagonist is frolicking in the woods and in the waters of a river, singing the words that beckon the beloved.

With this song, the film ‘Mohabbat Aur Jung’ makes a debut on our blog today.

Song – Samaa Khoobsurat Hai, Tumhaari Zaroorat Hai  (Mohabbat Aur Jung) (1967) Singer – Krishna Kalle, Lyrics – Taj Bhopali, MD – Iqbal Qureshi

Lyrics

samaa  khoobsurat hai
tumhaari zaroorat hai
bahaaron se poochhun main
bahaaron se poochhun main
ae mehboobi jaan e khoobi
sab kuchh hai
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
samaa  khoobsurat hai
tumhaari zaroorat hai

aaj to mujhko hosh nahin hai
zulf kahin aanchal bhi kahin hai
main bhi haseen hoon
dil bhi haseen hai
ye duniya khwaabon ki zameen hai
ae mehboobi jaan e khoobi
sab kuchh hai
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
samaa  khoobsurat hai
tumhaari zaroorat hai

maujon ka paighaam hai aa ja
jalwa jalwa jaam hain aa ja
rangeen rangeen shaam hai aa ja
tujh se zara sa kaam hai aa ja
ae mehboobi jaan e khoobi
sab kuchh hai
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
samaa  khoobsurat hai
tumhaari zaroorat hai
bahaaron se poochhun main
bahaaron se poochhun main
ae mehboobi jaan e khoobi
sab kuchh hai
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
tu kahaan
samaa  khoobsurat hai
tumhaari zaroorat hai

Sudhir ji,

The poster of the film mentions S Azim as the director and Randhawa, Helen, Ram Mohan, Sherey (I guess, Mohan Sheri), Indira and Sundar as the main actors. From the star cast, it appears to be a stunt film.

Sadanand ji,

Thanks so much for providing additional details about this film.

The actress lip syncing for the song is not Radha Saluja and
also not Indira(aka Indira Bill->in some poster image of the movie,Indira`s name was mentioned )

She looks like SUJATA BAKSHI aka Sujatha, who later on worked as choreographer/dance assistant/actress/co-dancer/ main dancer/costume dancer
in many hindi movies. I am very much sure about that,
बाक़ी राम जाने, मेरा मन कहता है के ये तारिका सुजाता बक्शी है

you can see Sujatha bakshi in following video link(of Aankhein) as a co dancer with Madhumati on 0:17

Dear Prakash ji

Thanks for helping to identify the dancer on screen. 🙂
