“Us Raat Ke Baad”(1970) was a “social” movie. Information contained in HFGK about this movie is incomplete.

Luckily the print of this movie is available online. Watching it, one finds that the movie was produced and directed by Y B Siraj for 51 Cine Commercial corporation, Bombay. The movie had Sanjeev Kumar, Tanuja, Sailesh Kumar, Shaminder, Kishore Bhat (introducing), Aruna Irani, Madan Puri, Tarun Bose, Bela Bose, Asit Sen, Pravin Paul, Sundar, Amrit Patel, Dinesh Hingoo, Masterji etc in it.

HFGK mentions four songs in the movie and leaves blanks indicating that the movie had additional songs in it. On watching the movie, it is seen that the movie had a fifth song as well which is the movie opening song cum movie closing song. So the movie had five songs in all.

Two songs from the movie have been covered in the past. Here is the third song from “Us Raat Ke Baad”(1970) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Bula Gupta. Gulzar is the lyricist. Music is composed by Hemant Kumar.

The song is picturised as a cabarat dance song on Bela Bose, with a few shady looking characters visible in the picturisation.

Bula Gupta, a new name for this blog, makes her debut in the blog with this song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on her.

Google doesn’t show any meaningful result. Relying on my memory I recall that one Bula Gupta played lead in a Hindi film in early seventies under the screen name of Archana. The film was Buddha Mil Gaya. Though in that film she sang only one line in a song, perhaps in Aayo Kahan Se Ghanshyam, she was a trained singer.

Atul ji,

The credit titles of the film ‘Ferry’ (1954) produced and directed by Hemen Gupta show the name of Baby Bulo as one of the actors introduced in the film. Baby Bulo has also sung a song in this film ‘door desh se aayi naiyya’ along with Master Babu.

I guess, Baby Bulo and Bulo Gupta are the same. It is quite possible that ‘Bulo’ is a nick name for Archana.

Sadanandji Thanks for that information about Archana
