“Shagun” (1951), also mentioned as “Shagan” in some sites, was produced by G D Talwar and directed by S Arora for Punjab Art Productions, Bombay. This obscure movie had Sulochana Chatterji, Kamal Kapoor, Bhudo Advani, Ranjit Kumari, Wasti, Ramlal, Gulnar, Neerja, Mayakumari, Sohan, Maqbool etc in it. etc in it.

There were nine songs in this movie which were composed by Husnlal Bhagatram and SDardul Kwatra. While some songs are attibuted to Husnlal Bhagatram in HFGK, there are three songs where music directors are not known.

Three songs have been covered in the blog in the past.

Here is the fourth song from “Shagun” (1951) to appear in the blog. This song is sung by Surinder Kaur and Gul Raza. Mulkraj Bhakri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Husnlal Bhagatram.

This song is a nice hummable “expression of love” genre of song. Only the audio of the song is available. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of the song.

Song-Ik chhote se balam ne baanke se balam ne (Shagun)(1951) Singer-Surinder Kaur, Raja Gul, Lyrics-Mulkraj Bhakri, MD-Husnlal Bhagatram

Lyrics

ik chhote se balam ne baanke se balam ne
looti hai duniya hamaari
looti hai duniya hamaari
ik chhote se balam ne baanke se balam ne
looti hai duniya hamaari
looti hai duniya hamaari

chain bhi loota aaraam bhi loota dikha ke suratiya pyaari
chain bhi loota aaraam bhi luta dikha ke suratiya pyaari
ik chhote se balam ne baanke se balam ne
looti hai duniya hamaari
looti hai duniya hamaari

baabul mora doctor bulaaye
maiya bulaaye hakeem
baabul mora doctor bulaaye
maiya bulaaye hakeem
kaun kahe in anjaanon se
meri asal beemaari
kaun kahe in anjaanon se
meri asal beemaari
ik chhote se balam ne baanke se balam ne
looti hai duniya hamaari
looti hai duniya hamaari

mera bhi dil nit dole sajaniya
khwaab se nikla jaaye
mera bhi dil nit dole sajaniya
khwaab se nikla jaaye
jaisi haalat hai tumhaari o gori
waisi haalat hai humaari
jaisi haalat hai tumhaari o gori
waisi haalat hai humaari

ik chhote se balam ne baanke se balam ne
looti hai duniya hamaari
looti hai duniya hamaari

koi hamaare sainyaan ko laaye
aa jaaye dil ko karaar
koi hamaare saiyaan ko laaye
aa jaaye dil ko karaar
vo hi hai mere dard ka daaru
main hoon birha ki maari
vo hi hai mere dard ka daaru
main hoon birha ki maari
ik chhote se balam ne baanke se balam ne
looti hai duniya hamaari
looti hai duniya hamaari

Correction
Raja Gul sings
” Mera bhi dil nit dole sajaniya ”
U hav written ” mere bhi dil – – – ”

Btw , so funny song it was !
” Baba ne doctor bulaya aur maa ne Hakim . Lekin meri dard ka daaru hai mera saiyyan !!!! ”

Enjoyed the song.Surinder Kaur has brought out the humour nicely.
