This movie had six songs, all written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed to music by R.D. Burman.

So far, five songs from this movie have been posted on the blog.

Let us have a look on the plot of the story (taken from ‘Wikipedia’ but edited for this article) and appearance of the songs in this movie;

Asha (Kim) lives in a hostel and is troubled by the nightmares of her deceased aunt. The hostel warden (Lalita Pawar) and her friend Shobha (Aruna Irani) take her to a psychiatrist Dr Vijay (Rajesh Khanna). Doctor finds nothing wrong with her and advises her to get away from old memories. Parents of other girls from the hostel complains the administration about Asha’s behaviour and she was told to vacate the place. Asha decides to go to her ancestral home. Dr Vijay and Shobha accompanies her.

“Asha ye duniya bhi ek university ki tarah hai, Asha insaan ko waqt ki tarah hona chaahiye, waqt jo pichhe mud kar kabhi nahin dekhta. Asha sachcha insaan wahi hai jo jeena jantaa hai.”

That is how Dr Vijay (Rajesh Khanna) tries to motivate Asha (Kim). Shobha, Asha’s friend also tries to motivate her.
Here we have the first song of this movie which is ‘dekho idhar dekho, aye mere hamsafar, jeewan ke safar mein peechhe mud ke kya dekhna’ (posted on the blog on 12.02.2021) …

Asha’s ancestral home is a huge manor and is taken care of by Vishwanath (A.K. Hangal) and his daughter Gauri (Tamanna). As the three of them relax after the travel and go to sleep the second song of the movie takes place here in the background and all of them wake up to see who is singing on the Piano in the same room of Asha’s deceased Aunt who is no more …

After this another incident the next morning we have Asha and Vijay going for horse riding in the picturesque location of hills and river around. Asha hides herself and as Vijay looks for … Aasha … Asha aa … Aasha aa … we have this lovely song ‘sang mere nikley thhe saajan, haar baithhe thodi hi door chal ke’ (posted on the blog on 26.02.2013).

Dr Vijay and Asha develop a bond and after a few days’ Dr Vijay goes back to city for some work. Same night Asha sees a scary looking woman walking in the corridors. The woman keeps haunting her every night and Asha’s condition worsens.

Aasha asks Vishwanath to immediately call back Dr Vijay.

Dr. Vijay is on his journey to Aasha’s place … his car has some problem and stops on the road. One gentleman is passing by in his car who knows everything about Vijay but do not tells Vijay about him. He helps to get re-start Vijay’s car and left. When Dr. Vijay reach Aasha’s place he meets the same person here who Shobha introduces as Ashok (Danny Dengzongpa) as her cousin.

As Aasha’s condition worsens Dr Vijay and Ashok takes her to a senior specialist Doctor Desai (O Shivpuri) … Aasha’s birthday is coming and
Dr Vijay and Ashok plan a big party on the occasion of Asha’s birthday. Ashok calls his wife who lives abroad to join them. On this occasion happens this fourth song in the movie which Dr Vijay sings … ‘chhalkaao jhoom ke paimaanaa khushi ka’ (posted on the blog on 11.03.2013)

Ashok’s wife arrives, when Asha is cutting her birthday cake. Asha gets shocked to see her as she is the same woman who is haunting her from last many days in the house. She gets panicked and stabs Ashok’s wife, who succumbs to her injuries and dies on the spot. Police inspector Sharma (Suresh Oberoi), who is a guest of the party arrests Asha on the charge of murder. The court suspends the hearing as Asha’s condition is not stable and she is not suitable to go through the legal process.
Dr Vijay treats Asha and tries to get the answer why Asha killed Ashok’s wife. He tells Asha that Ashok’s wife arrives in India on the same day and there is no possibility that Asha saw her before her birthday in that house. But Asha is adamant that it was Ashok’s wife who was haunting her.

On the other side Ashok wants to get rid of Shobha who helped him in this plan, by paying her huge sum, but Shobha declines all and tells Ashok that she has done everything because she loves him too much. Understanding the situation Ashok tries to pretend that he was just joking and he too loves Shobha.
Here we have Shobha celebrating and singing ‘phir wohi raat aayi jaan e jaan’ (posted on the blog on 20.05.2013) …

Gauri also gets killed after a few days. Shobha starts watching another woman walking around the house.

In between we have a comic relief by Jagdeep, his wife Shobha Khote and his many children.
Here the sixth and final song of this movie ‘aa gaye yaaron jeene ke din’ (posted on the blog on 29.03.2021) happens where Jagdeep and his friends Mohan Choti, Bhagwan, Mukri, Birbal, Gopal Saigal, Manmauji, Machchhar are enjoying and celebrating party.
Dr Vijay investigates further with the help of Inspector Sharma (Suresh Oberoi) and solve the mystery at the end exposing a web of lies and greed.

Today’s song (the second song in this movie) is the theme song of this movie and gets played in the background many times.
Today’s song is sung by Lata Mangeshkar and composed by R.D. Burman.

Let us now enjoy today’s song and say ‘Yippeeee’ for this movie as all the songs of this movie get covered on the blog …
