This Friday when I was listening to the program ‘Shaam Sindoori’ on my return travel from office to home, I was awestruck when I listened to a song sung by Rafi Saab.

It was like I was listening to this song for the first time. I do not remember if I have listened to it earlier. This song was ‘ye shaam hai dhuaan dhuaan fizaa bahot udaas hai’. I immediately fell in love with this song. After all it had Rafi Saab’s voice and a very nice composition too.

I searched for the name of the movie and I came to know that it was from a 1973 movie ‘Ek Naao Do Kinaare’. This song is already posted on our blog long back on 24.12.2011.

This song has two versions – happy and sad. The happy version is the duet, which I listened to on the Radio. This duet is sung by Rafi Saab and Asha Bhosle. The sad version is a solo by Rafi Saab.

When I looked for other songs from this movie I came across today’s song which is sung by Asha Bhonsle.

The songs from this movie seem to be uploaded recently (i.e. one or two years ago) on ‘YouTube’. All the songs from this movie are nice compositions composed by music director Brij Bhushan.

‘Ek Naao Do Kinaare’ is directed by BR Ishara for Nitin Films, Bombay. It has Rakesh Pandey, Heena Kausar, Mrinal Mukherjee, Manhar Desai, Anand Narula, Manohar, Indra Medha, Sheelara, Karunesh Thakur, Neelam Garudiya, Narottam Shah, Meeta Tripathi, Ramesh Bhatt, Sharmaji, Yogesh Chhabda, Neelam Dave, Sarla Choksi, Miss Khan, Naseema, Master Farjan Engineer, Mansoori, Baby Yasmeen and others.

This movie was passed by Censor Board on 18.10.1973 with a ‘A’ certificate (i.e. with restricted viewership).

This movie has four songs (including a two version song) written by Naqsh Lyallpuri.
Music for this movie was composed by Brij Bhushan (he was assisted in orchestration by Kersi Lord and Uttam Singh).

Here is the list of songs of this movie. After the song under discussion , the movie is just one song away from ‘Yippeeee’.

01 Main haari tose saajnaa milaa ke nainwaa Asha Bhonsle Being posted today
02 Tum hamsafar bano to jahaan chaley ham Mukesh
03 Ye shaam hain dhuaan dhuaan (happy version) Mohd Rafi, Asha Bhonsle 24.12.2011
04 Ye shaam hain dhuaan dhuaan (sad version) Mohd Rafi 24.12.2011

As mentioned above only one song, which is a multiple version song, has been posted on the blog.

Other than today’s song there is one more song in this movie. It is sung by Mukesh. It is a very nice song. (I am leaving this song for the ‘Mukesh fans’ to discuss on the blog.)
.
Today’s song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. It is lip-synced by Heena Kausar. Mrinal Mukherjee is also seen in the picturisation.

I would request knowledgeable readers to throw more light on the songs and story etc of this movie. This seems to be an obscure movie of its time.

Let us now listen to and enjoy the song …

Song-Main haari tose saajna (Ek Naao Do Kinaare)(1973) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Naqsh Llayalpuri, MD-Brij Bhushan

Lyrics

main haari tose saajna
milaake nainawa
tu man ki batiyaan na jaane re
main haari saajna
haan
tu man ki batiyaan na jaane re
main haari tose saajna
milaake nainawa
tu man ki batiyaan na jaane re
main haari saajna
haan
tu man ki batiyaan na jaane re ae

nit nit naye naye
sapne sajaaye tu
kaahe jhoothhe sapnon se
mujhe behlaaye tu oo
nit nit naye naye
sapne sajaaye tu
kaahe jhoothhe sapnon se
mujhe behlaaye tu oo
bheegi bheegi rut mein
jiyarawa sulgaaye tu
main tose naa bolun
na bolun re ae
tu man ki batiyaan na jaane re
main haari tose saajna
milaa ke nainwa
tu man ki batiyaan na jaane re
main haari saajna
haan
tu man ki batiyaan naa jaane re

sang sang reh ke bhi
ang na lagaaye tu
lat kabhi uljhe to
wo na suljhaaye tu oo
sang sang reh ke bhi
ang na lagaaye tu
lat kabhi uljhe to
wo na suljhaaye tu
kabhi kabhi mil ke
phir milne na paaye tu
main tose na boloon
na boloon re ae
tu man ki batiyaan na jaane re ae
main haari tose saajna
milaa ke nainawa
tu man ki batiyaan na jaane re
haan
tu man ki batiyaan na jaane re
main haari tose saajna
milaake nainawa
tu man ki batiyaan na jaane re
main haari saajna
haan
tu man ki batiyaan na jaane re

Hindi script lyrics (Provided by Sudhir)
———————————————————
