‘Ek hasrat thhi ke aanchal ka mujhe pyaar miley…Zindagi aur bataa tera iraadaa kya hai’

I have been listening to this song since my childhood and I have been liking it without any apparent reason. May be the overall composition touched me somewhere and it remain in my memory since then. Later, as I grew up and listened to this song, I liked its lyrics very much and continue to enjoy it whenever it was played around on radio or elsewhere.

Despite all that, I neither searched for the details of the song and its movie nor did I search for other songs from the movie.

The song I mentioned above had been posted on the blog on 30.11.2009. That is almost 12 years, 7 months and 11 days (as on 10.07.2022) or 4606 days after the first song of this movie was discussed on the blog.

I came across this movie-title during my daily browsing of the blog recently, and so here I am taking the chance to go through the details of this movie, its songs and also add the second song of this movie on the blog today.

The song I mentioned on the top of this article is from the movie ‘Zindagi Aur Toofaan’ (1975).

I am not aware how this movie had fared on box-office then. But it seemed to be a forgotten and obscure movie of its time. Hindi movie goers of those days must be well aware of the ‘other’ movies released during this year and one can easily guess that this movie must have been forgotten in the spate of the other popular movies of that year.

‘Zindagi Aur Toofaan’ was directed by Umesh Mathur for Kirtimaan Films, Bombay. It was produced by Lalit Mohan and Charu Mitra.

It had Yogita Bali, Sajid Khan, Helen, Sulbha Deshpande, Kanhaiyyalal, Anwar Hussain, Appi Umrani, Asit Sen, Mukri, Bhagwan, Sikandar Azam, Shefali Choudhary, Master Shahid, Master Majid, Bharat, Bal Kishan, Rajat Kumar, Balwant Singh, Satyender Verma, Manu Dhawan, Kishan, Daya Devi, Leena Das, Pal Sharma, Chandu, Pardesi, Ratan Gaurang, MA Latif, Mumtaz Begum, Geeta Khanna, CM Nagar, and others.

Rehana Sultana and Rakesh Pande made a guest appearances in this movie.

This movie was based on the famous Hindi novel ‘Talaash’ written by Mahavir Adhikari. Mahavir Adhikari also wrote the story and dialogues of this movie. Screenplay of this movie was written by Umesh Mathur who was the director of this movie. Editing of this movie was done by Nand Kumar.

‘Zindagi Aur Toofaan’ was passed by Censor Board on 06.12.1975 (with a ‘restricted viewing (A) certificate).

This movie had four songs in it. Ram Avtar Tyagi wrote the lyrics for two songs, Indeevar and Ram Bharadwaj wrote lyrics for one song each. Mukesh, Asha Bhonsle, Dilraj Kaur, and Amit Kumar (Amit Gangoli as mentioned in the titles of the movie) had given their voices to the songs of this movie.
Music for this movie was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Here is the list of songs of this movie.

SNo Song Title Lyricist Singer/s Posted On
01 Ek hasrat thhi ke aanchal ka mujhe pyaar miley Ram Avtar Tyagi Mukesh, Chorus 30.11.2009
02 Main bhi to akela, main bhi to akeli hoon Ram Bharadwaj Amit Kumar, Asha Bhonsle
03 Meri kashti toofaan mein hichkole khaaye jaaye Indeevar Asha Bhonsle
04 Raat madhosh hai khamosh sitaare jaage Ram Avtar Tyagi Asha Bhonsle, Dilraj Kaur

As mentioned above, only one song from this movie has been posted on the blog on 30.11.2009. Today I present another song from this movie. It is a solo song sung by Asha Bhonsle. It is lip-synced by Yogita Bali. Sajid Khan, the hero of the movie is also seen in the picturisation of this song.

It is a nice song to listen to (and watch too). The song somehow sounds like a familiar song. I have not watched this movie yet. So, I cannot say in what context this song happens in the movie.

Let us listen to today’s song now …

Song-Meri kashti toofaan mein hichkole khaaye jaaye (Zindagi aur Toofaan)(1975) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Indeewar, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal

Lyrics

meri kashti toofaan mein
hichkole khaaye jaaye
meri kashti toofaan mein
hichkole khaaye jaaye
tere pyaar ki jo patwaar miley to
mumkin hai bach jaaye
meri kashti toofaan mein
hichkole khaaye jaaye
tere pyaar ki jo patwaar miley to
mumkin hai bach jaaye
meri kashti toofaan mein ae

dariyaa hai ye ae zindagani
toofaanon jaisi jawaani
dariyaa hai ye ae zindagani
toofaanon jaisi jawaani
dil mera chanchal
dil mera chanchal
armaanon ki maujon se takraaye
tere pyaar ki jo patwaar miley to
mumkin hai bach jaaye
meri kashti toofaan mein
hichkole khaaye jaaye
tere pyaar ki jo patwaar miley to
mumkin hai bach jaaye
meri kashti toofaan mein ae ae

main to hoon aisi dhaara
dhoondhoon baahon on ka kinaara
main to hoon aisi dhaara
dhoondhoon baahon on ka kinaara
dil mein hai udaasi ee
dil mein hai udaasi
umr hai pyaasi
pyaasi hi mujhe dubaaye
tere pyaar ki jo patwaar miley to
mumkin hai bach jaaye
meri kashti toofaan mein
hichkole khaaye jaaye
tere pyaar ki jo patwaar miley to
mumkin hai bach jaaye
meri kashti toofaan mein ae
