“Pyaar Hi Pyaar” – release date 17th October 1969- was directed by Bhappie Sonie and produced by Rajaram & Satish Wagle. It had music by Shankar-Jaikishan & Hasrat Jaipuri wrote most of the songs. Rajinder Krishan is credited with one song. The movie had a cast of Vyjayanthimala, Dharmendra, Manmohan, Mehmood, Helen, Dhumal, Madan Puri, D.K. Sapru, Sulochana -Latkar & Chatterjee, Raj Mehra AND PRAN. Plus there were some character artists who are familiar faces to all Hindi movie fans- like the rotund Moolchand, Robert (the Goan dancer who was a prominent face in dance numbers till 1989), even Shatrughan Sinha and Salim Khan (who later formed a duo with Javed Akhtar) were there in small roles.
It was a normal story where a police inspector on duty of finding a beautiful young woman’s father promptly falls in love with her. Then there are the regular complications that any Indian film with love story as theme would have. Vijay (Dharmendra) and Kavita (Vyjayanthimala) face complications in the form of Shyam Kumar (Manmohan) and Satish Raj (Pran, calling himself Ashok occasionally). So that is the background for the film

As we can see this film has debuted on the blog and is one of those films that are yet to be Yyippeeeed.
We are having the next song today on the occasion of Dharmendra’s birthday. He is turning 87 today. I know that there are enough fans of this smart (who was young at the time of this movie) old man among the followers of this blog. He still looks charming as was seen when he appeared on a satellite channel a few weeks back. We all know that he has been entertaining us since 1960. His last release was in 2020 in a Punjabi film “Jora -second chapter” and he was also seen in short film “Dream Catcher” in 2021. His sons and daughters (from his marriage to Hema Malini) are actors and his grandson Karan Deol (Sunny Deol’s son) has taken his first step into the filmworld a few years back.
Just to get an idea of the acting range of Dharam Paaji (he is addressed like this fondly) – “Yakeen”, “Satyakam”, “Pyaar Hi Pyaar”, “Khamoshi”, “Aaya Sawan Jhoom Ke” and “Aadmi Aur Insaan” were his releases of 1969.
The song is regular ched-chaad song. It has the hero complaining to the heroine and her friends and hindering them in their efforts to help the drowning Manmohan. It is the song that was written by Rajinder Krishan and sung with full gusto by Mohd Rafi .
