Today 28th January’2023 is the eighty-sixth birthday of Singer Suman Kalyanpur- (born on 28th January’1937).
As per the statistics on this blog Suman Kalyanpur has sung around 857 songs in Hindi Films and so far we have covered 433 songs sung her on the blog. So, that is just above the half of the figures of total songs sung by her. We still have a long way to go before all her songs are posted here on the blog.
She has been conferred with ‘Padma Bhushan’ by Government of India on this ‘Republic Day’ and we congratulate her on this achievement, and also wish her a very happy birthday today and a healthy and peaceful life ahead.
A mishap happened with her just three days before when fire broke out in the building she is staying at Mumbai and she had to be evacuated from there to her relatives’ house in the city. A news article says on this incident that it will take around two to three weeks for everything to come to normal in the fire affected building.
We sincerely hope that everything will soon be back to normal.
To start the day I am presenting a song sung by Suman Kalyanpur from the decade of fifties i.e.1951-1960.
Here is a song from the ‘1958’ movie ‘Kal Kyaa Hogaa’.
“Kal Kyaa Hogaa-1958” was directed by Ramesh Dheeraj for ‘Sound And Shadow Corporation’, Bombay.
It was produced by Y. B. Yavar. (In the footnote of this movie’s details, HFGK Vol-III (1951-1960) mentions that the production activities of this movie were looked after by Nanabhai Bhatt).
The cast of this movie included Anita Guha, Manhar Desai, Shammi, Habib, Heera Sawant, Indira, Azim, Shyamlal, Maqbool, Leela Sharma, Nandini, Meena, Jahangir Lakdawala, Ghani, Mohd Ali, Mohd Sandow, Babu Sandow, Sheikh and others.
This movie was passed by Censor Board on 18.02.1958.
“Kal Kyaa Hogaa-1958’ has nine songs written by Saba Afghani and music was composed by Nisar.

We can see from the above table that singer’s names for five songs have not been mentioned for the individual songs in HFGK Vol-III (1951-1960).
However HFGK mentions Mohd Rafi, Nisar, Suman Kalyanpur, Madhubala Zaveri and Khurshid Bawra as playback singers for this movie.
Only one song from this movie jiska palda bhaari dekhe has been posted on the blog on 27.02.2017.
Today’s song is the second song from this movie to be posted on the blog.
