जाने वाले फिर नहीं आते
जाने वाले की याद आती है

The dear ones who depart this world, do never return; just the memories remain. And then, just as another poet has said, “यादों का सहारा ना होता, हम छोड़ के दुनिया चल देते”. If we did not have the bracing support of the memories, life would really have been a difficult journey to tread. Memories make us experience the past emotions once again, and in a manner, give us the strength to permeate the emotions of sorrow that may linger after the departure of a loved one.

There is a blessing for us lovers of music, in that the sounds and the images have been preserved, for the past about a hundred years plus, and this repository allows us to visit and visit again to refresh some very dear memories.

The best are always the favorites. Like Rafi Sb. As Atul ji has observed in a recent post, that about half of all that he has rendered is already hosted on our blog also. And that means, there is still another half that we have to resurrect and bring on to showcase here. Quite some consolation that this endeavor promises to keep us busy for a good amount of foreseeable future.

Today’s delightful duet is from the film ‘Pyaara Dushman’ from 1955.  Another light romantic song – we encounter a hesitant gentleman, and the lady who is encouraging him on, asking him to have no fear. The accompanying singer is Asha Bhosle. Lyrics are by Saba Afghani. The lilting and endearing music composition is by Nisar Bazmi. Incidentally, just yesterday, Atul ji has posted another song from this film – a solo by Rafi Sb. Though not a rare occurrence, it is interesting to note such quick progression sometimes. 🙂

[Note: Another thing that I would like to add is that I am more or less the culprit for the near miss for the solitary post yesterday. The song from ‘Lagaan’ (Arun ji’s post) that appeared around 1.30 in the morning today, was supposed to have been online sometimes by evening yesterday. But then I got swamped with certain other priorities, and could not complete all the steps of post preparation in good time. Atul ji is just the cavalry that appears in time, before the end of the film. 🙂 ]

Song – Aa Tujhko Bulaayen Ye Pyaasi Nigaahen (Pyaara Dushman) (1955) Singer – Asha Bhosle, Mohammed Rafi, Lyrics – Saba Afghani, MD – Nisar Bazmi
Mohammed Rafi + Asha Bhosle

Lyrics

aa tujhko bulaayen
ye pyaasi nigaahen
ae jaan e jahaan
tu hai kahaan
aa jaa
abhi to dil hai jawaan
naya naya hai jahaan
abhi to dil hai jawaan
naya naya hai jahaan

pyaar ke raste bade nashile
pyaar ke raste bade nashile
mere behke kadam
mujhe thaam e sanam
mere behke kadam
thaam e sanam
chal na sakoon main
ab kya karoon main
abhi to dil hai jawaan
naya naya hai jahaan
abhi to dil hai jawaan
naya naya hai jahaan

pyaar ka chaska
nahin hai bas ka
pyaar ka chaska
nahin hai bas ka
hai aankhon mein sharam
mera dil hai naram
hai aankhon mein sharam
dil hai naram
anjaan hoon main
kaise kahoon main
abhi to dil hai jawaan
naya naya hai jahaan
abhi to dil hai jawaan
naya naya hai jahaan

kaahe ka darr hai
kahaan nazar hai
nai dagar hai
yahi fikar hai
karo is ka na gham
bahut achha sanam
karo is ka na gham
achha sanam
hum hain tumhaare
tum ho hamaare
abhi to dil hai jawaan
naya naya hai jahaan
abhi to dil hai jawaan
naya naya hai jahaan

aa tujhko bulaayen
ye pyaasi nigaahen
ae jaan e jahaan
tu hai kahaan
aa jaa
abhi to dil hai jawaan
naya naya hai jahaan
abhi to dil hai jawaan
naya naya hai jahaan

It is nearly 11 PM Today (27 december 2017)and no post has been made so far, thus threatening a proud record running into hundreds of days when there was no interruption of days as far as posting at least one write up was concerned. I have been travelling for the last 30 hours, and I had thought that I would be able to post during day time. But I found that my dongle did not get enough strength of signal and so I could not log on to internet.

Another five hours journey later, I found myself in a bigger place where I am able to get strong signal so here I am trying to post at least one writeup for the day, racing against time, so to day.

This song is from “Pyaara Dushman”(1955). It is sung by Rafi and chorus. Saba Afghani is the lyricist. Music is composed by Nisar Bazmi.

Only the audio of this song is available. I request our knowldgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

Song-Hai zindagi ek safar maujon se khelta guzar (Pyaara Dushman)(1955) Singers-Rafi, Lyrics-Saba Afghani, MD-Nisar Bazmi
Chorus

jeene waale tu agar
marne se darna chhod de
phir jidhar chaahe udhar toofaan ka munh mod de

hambaara hambaaboo
hambaara hambaaboo
hambaara hambaaboo

hai zindagi ek safar
maujon se khelta guzar
naiya kinare se lagaane waala
hai mere maula
naiya kinaare se lagaane waala

baadal bhi chhaaye to kya
himmat ka daaman nahin chhodna
bijli daraaye to kya
manzil se munh ko nahin modna
aandhi ke jhonke
kitna hi roke
aage ko badhta hi jaa
naiya kinaare se lagaane waala
hai mere maula
naiya kinaare se lagaane waala

baat ye meri suno
kehna hai jo kuchh to jaldi kaho
mudkar idhar ko chalo
haasil hai kya raaste beech ko
khatra udhar hai
marne ka darr hai
daawat na do maut ko
naiya kinaare se lagaane waala
hai mere maula
naiyya kinaare se lagaane waala

kaisi hai ye buzdili
humne to ki thi zara dillagi
baaten karo hosh ki
chaho agar aazma lo abhi
mar ke dikhaao
achcha to aao
doobenge mil ke sabhi ee
naiya kinaare se lagaane waala
hai mere maula
naiya kinare se lagaane waala
hai mere maula

hai zindagi ek safar
maujon se khelta guzar
naiyya kinaare se lagaane waala
hai mere maula
naiyya kinare se lagaane waala

Missing Films of 1960s – 3
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –

A few days back, when Atul ji was in Delhi, we were together with our local group for an afternoon get together on the second day of his stay here. Atul ji has written about it in his report out with the song “Tu Jo Dil Le Ke Mere Peechhe Peechhe Aayega”.  Javed Bhai, one of our group regulars started the topic about how many Hindi film songs are there, and whether we have already got most of them on the blog.  To which Atul ji replied that as per Geet Kosh, we have approximately 44,000 songs listed for the first five decades of our film industry, i.e. from 1931 to 1980.  Out of these, we a little over 11,000 songs on the blog so far, which works out to be 25% completion only.  We have come here after a journey of about seven years.  Going by this background, we surely are going to be pretty busy for many more years to come, just to get all the available songs till 1980, on to the blog.

Divas of Hindi Film Music (4)
————————————

It is now the turn of redoubtable Lata Mangeshkar to feature in the series. This again is a duet which was lying in the my Drafts folder for sometime. The movie ‘Kar Bhala’ (1956) is making a debut here with this song. The cute ‘roothna-manaana ” duet is written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by Nisar Bazmi-Chik Chocolate.

Here is a song that has to be regarded as a wonderful find. This song is a highly obscure song from a highly obscure movie. The artists who are involved in this song are less known, and even unknown to most music lovers. But what a gem they have created !
