Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 74
Today’s rare song of Asha Bhosle is “Band Kamre Mein Ek Ladki” from “Agent Vinod” (1977). There’s also some ad-lib by Mahendra Sandhu during the interludes. The song is penned by Ravindra Raval and composed by Raam Laxman.
“Agent Vinod-1977” was directed by Deepak Bahri for ‘Sargam Pictures Pvt. Ltd., Bombay’.
It had Mahendra Sandhu, Asha Sachdev, Rehana Sultana, Iftekhar, Pinchoo Kapoor, Nazir Hussain, Ravindra Kapoor, K.N. Singh,etc.
The 1977 Hindi film Agent Vinod is an action-spy thriller starring Mahendra Sandhu in the title role.
The plot revolves around a dangerous mission to save India’s vital nuclear secrets from falling into the wrong hands.
The film begins with the kidnapping of a renowned nuclear scientist, Dr. Ajay Saxena (played by Nazir Hussain), by an international criminal organization known as the Scorpions. Their goal is to acquire a top-secret formula developed by Dr. Saxena that is capable of neutralizing hydrogen bombs, which they plan to sell for immense profit.
The Chief of Secret Services (K.N. Singh) assigns his most flamboyant, resourceful, and suave operative, Agent Vinod (Mahendra Sandhu), to the case. His mission is to locate and rescue Dr. Saxena and thwart the Scorpions’ sinister plans.
While on his assignment, Vinod encounters Anju Saxena (Asha Sachdev), Dr. Saxena’s daughter, who narrowly escaped the Scorpions’ attempt to kidnap her. She insists on assisting Agent Vinod in finding her father.
The duo travels the globe, confronting various underworld figures and glamorous but deadly operatives, including a cabaret dancer named Lovelina. Agent Vinod, much like his James Bond inspiration, utilizes an array of cool gadgets and disguises in his pursuit. He is also assisted by a comic relief sidekick named Chandu (Jagdeep), who calls himself “James Bond.”
Vinod eventually uncovers the Scorpions’ lair, where Dr. Saxena is being held and tortured. He soon discovers that the ruthless leader of the Scorpions, Madanlal (Iftekhar), is the mastermind behind the entire operation, aiming to sell the formula to foreign powers. In some versions of the synopsis, the shocking truth is revealed that the true “Boss” is someone Vinod trusted.
The film culminates in a high-octane confrontation involving action, car chases, and explosions. Agent Vinod defeats the villains, rescues Dr. Saxena and another captured agent named Zarina, destroys the syndicate’s base, and ensures the country’s nuclear secrets remain safe. The film concludes with a romantic resolution between Vinod and Anju.
Two songs from this movie have been posted earlier. This then becomes the third of the six songs in total.
This song is lip synced by Asha Sachdev who is trying to woo Mahendra Sandhu. In between the song, basically during the interludes he ad-libs few words.
