Alphabetical list of actresses who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice- Part VII
(Actresses whose name begin with the letter G)
In the first six episodes of the series, we listed actresses whose names begin with the first six letters of the alphabet and who had lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog. They we went on to cover a song that was lip synced by another acresses whose name began with the same letter and who had not lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog.
We managed to find “new” actresses (whose name begin with the first six letters of the alphabet) lip syncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice for the first time in the blog. They were Anju Mahendru, Bhanupriya,Chandrakala,Divya Bharati, Ekta and Farheen.
The next letter of the alphabet is G. Like the previous few letters of the alphabet, this letter G too is a challenge.
There are only five actresses whose name began with G, who have lip synced songs in the voice of Asha Bhonsle in the blog. Here are those four actresses:-

If you ask me, I cannot think of any other actress with the letter G, forget thinking of any acress with this letter lip syncing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice. But that is where our inhouse expert identifier of obscure artist Prakashchandra came to my rescue. He informed me about an actress whose name begins with G and who has lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice. Her name is Gulnar Irani. I have never heard of her name, but trust Prakashchandra to not only know her name but also her alias under which she acted in South Indian movies as well. 🫡
The song is from “Prem Pratigya”(1989). This movie was produced by B Lagnathan and directed by Bapu for Shri Siddhi Vinayak International. This movie was a remake of Tamil hit movie “Vandichakkaram”(1980). The movie had Mithun Chakraborty, Madhuri Dixit, Vinod Mehra, Satish Kaushik, Gulnar Irani, Deven Verma, Aruna Irani (Guest appearance) ,Ranjeet, Neelu Phule,Kamal Deep, Jamuna, Farida Dadi, Darshan, Manmouji, Subhash, Sayeeda Khan, Jahangir, Renu Joshi etc in it.
The story, as given in wikipedia is:
Raja and his friend Charan come to a city to make a living. After failing to secure a job, one day, they are teased and ragged by Kallu Dada. The quarrel gets physical, and Raja wins. As a result, Raja becomes the local underworld don and starts collecting protection money from shopkeepers. He also becomes an alcoholic. Raja meets with Laxmi and is attracted to her. He comes to her assistance when her father, Mohan, passes away by helping to cremate him; he comes to her aid again when Kallu and his goons attempt to molest her; and when the municipality tears down her hut, he decides to let her live with him. Due to her influence, he gives up his bad habits. As things go well, they both decide to get married. But on the wedding day, Laxmi’s old beau, a Professor, shows up and proposes marriage to her. Meanwhile, Raja is also arrested and held for killing Kallu. The court sentences Raja to 5 years’ imprisonment. At the end of 5 years, Raja exits the jail. He finds Professor Laxmi and Charan waiting for him. He gestures to Laxmi, asking if she is married to the Professor. She slaps him lightly, then kisses him, and they reunite.
“Prem Pratigya”(1989) had six songs in it that were penned by Indeewar and composed by Bappi Lahiri. Asha Bhonsle had sung three songs, including one solo and two duets. One solo and one duet (with Bappi Lahiri) as expected had Asha Bhonsle lip syncing for Madhuri Dixit. However, the in other duet (with Kishore Kumar) , Asha Bhonsle sings for Gulnar Irani. By the way, even the uploader of this song is not aware of the identity of Gulzar Irani. Wikipedia, IMDb etc too do not mention her. I doubt if anyone other than Prakashchandra is aware about the identity. The uploader mentions Mithun Chakraborty and Madhuri Dixit as the actors in the song.😊
Here is this song from “Prem Pratigya”(1989). This bar dance song is sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle. It is lip synced by Mithun Chakraborty (playing a drunkard) and Gulnar Irani (playing desi style bar dancer). I was neither aware of the movie nor its songs. But the song is quite a nice and humable dance song. Bappi Lahiri has employed the same tune that stood hi in good stead those days. The tune is reminiscentof the tune of the song “nainon mein sapna, sapna mein sajna” and afew more Bappi Lahiri compositions of those days. Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhonsle has sung this song with gusto.
With this tough letter G done and dusted, next song in the series will be on an actress whose name begins with H. This is another challenging letter of the alphabet. The blog has only eight actresses whose names beging with H and who have lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice in the blog. But as usual, I am relaxed as usual. Thanks to Prakashchandra, I already have a “new” actress whose name begins with this letter who has lip synced in Asha Bhonsle’s voice but who is not yet represented in the blog.
In the meanwhile,let us enjoy this wonderful song from “Prem Pratigya”(1989) that makes its debut in the blog with this song. Gulnar Irani too makes her debut in the blog with this song. Prakashchandra informs us that she has also acted in South Indian movies under the name of Kuyili.

Asha Bhosle has lip synced for Gauthami in ‘Appu Raja’ (1990) in a duet song, ‘mawaale yaar teree jai’ which I had pointed out to you about 3 weeks back.
