Here is a quick quiz from me (searching, googling etc. allowed). Which song was the 5000th song in the blog ? Easy, you say, it is the song Hamen to loot liya milke husnwaalon ne (Al Hilaal)(1958). Alright, here is the next question- who lip syncs the immmortal qawwaali ? It is difficult, but not difficult for those who have gone through the huge writeup on this song in the blog. 🙂 The artist lip syncing this song is called Sheikh.

Fortunately or unfortunately (for my friends, readers and followers) I belong to the variety of people who take pleasure in bringing out the hidden rare gems from HFM, usually from the 60s and the 70s. n keeping with my passion for “Rare Hindi Film Songs” (RHFS is my group on FB), today, I present a forgotten gem from a movie – “Raftaar” released in 1975.

One of the things I like doing, is to watch old films on youtube. In the past, there weren’t that many available but over the last few years, many more have been uploaded. Especially the ones that aren’t very easily available otherwise. For somebody like me, that is like “andhe ko kya chaahiye, do aankhen”. 🙂

“Tin Tin Tin” (1959) was directed by B J Patel for Kirit Films. This obscure B grade movie had Caeser (Dog), Neelofar, Samar Roy, Mirajkar, Habeeb, Rajan Kapoor, Vishwa Mehra, Devchand, Moolchand, Bhudo Advani, Abdul Sattar, Tuntun etc in it.
Seeing that a dog played an important role, I am keen to find out more about this movie. 🙂 Unfortunately the prints of this movie seem to have been lost with the passage of time.

And so wrote the scribe
And they often say, the matters of heart are a gamble of life. The game of love is very exacting. And the insistence of the game-master is that no wager is big enough in this game of love. The game is played with odds which at times will compel you to bet everything in an all or nothing deal.
This post turns out to be special. Along with the love series special on the ‘Gambles of Love’, we are also making another celebration that combines surprise with anniversary and milestone. Read on, and you will find out.

Since even before the films started to talk and sing, music has been an important part of the cinematic experience. Even in the days of silent films, there used to be a live orchestra sitting close to the screen, who would provide music accompaniment and some sound effects to make the proceedings more interesting and to keep engaged the attention of the viewers. Of course, when the sound came, and the music and song became such an inseparable part of the theme, the presentation and the making of the films that with it came a new distinction and a new significance that got attached to the role and position of a music director. But the story of the music and song in the films does not end there.

The blog completed six years yesterday (19 july 2014). It was planned to touch the much anticipated 10,000th song mark on that day, but that could not be achieved due to unavoidable circumstances. Today the circumstances are favourable. And fortunately it happens to be a sunday as well. Today we are definitely going to touch the 10,000th song mark. What is more, this will be achieved when it is still 19 july 2014 in some parts of the world ! So the roundness of the world, which dictates that different nations have their own times comes to our rescue. 🙂
