Today’s song is from an obscure and unknown Mythological film – Ganga Maiya-1955.
The title of the film clearly indicates that it is the story of the River Ganga, which is so respected and revered in India that it is called Ganga Maiya or Mother Ganga.

Greetings on the occasion of Maha Shivratri which is being celebrated today (26 February 2025).
In Kolhapur district of Maharashtra, there is a small village called Khidrapur located close to Karnataka border. The village has an ancient Shiva temple known as Kopeshwar temple at the shore of River Krishna. I had visited Kopeshwar temple in October 2014 which is about 40 kms south of Sangli. There were no other visitors as this temple is not well-known. The temple priest told me that during Maha Shivratri and Navaratri, devotees from adjoining villages and the neighbouring districts visit the temple in large numbers.

Today’s song is from the Mythological film Shiv Kanya-1954.
Atulites know very well that for the last so many years, I have been posting my “Good Morning” messages on our WA group. Along with the GM message, I also post photos and pictures of various Gods and Mythological events, so that our readers get acquainted and their day should start with the auspicious darshan of our Gods and Goddesses. Some time back I posted a picture of the entire family of Shiv ji, which showed Shankar, Parvati, Ganesh, Kartikeya and their daughter Mansa Devi. The same was posted on Fb and my other 10+ groups.

Today’s song is from a Cult Film ” Har Har Mahadev”-1950.
I have mentioned several times here that our family was a Kattar Shiv Bhakt. So, it was no wonder that we all saw every film collectively, which had some connection to Lord Shiva. Film Har Har Mahadev-1950 was afterall a ‘Cult’ film, so there was no count how many times we saw this film. In the later years too, whenever this film came for the 2nd, 3rd or ‘N’th re run, I had seen it.

Today’s song is from the film Shiv Bhakta-1955.
This film was made by A.V.M, Madras in their Madras Studio. This is actually the story of Bhakta Kannappa, on whom AVM had made the original Bilingual film in Telugu and Kannada in 1954. This Hindi remake was made in 1955. According to folklore, Lord Shiv ji also blessed Kannappa to be reborn in Kaliyuga as one of his greatest devotees, as Kannappa and to be liberated from birth and rebirth.

It was made in Hindi, Bangla, Tamil and English. There were movies in Telugu and of course in Bangla also. Today’s film was made by Amar Mullick Production. It was produced by actress Bharati Devi (Amar Mullick’s wife) and Phani Mullick (Amar’s brother). The film was directed by Amar Mullick himself. The film was made simultaneously in Bangla and Hindi. All artistes were from Bengal. The Music Director was Rai Chand Boral.

Today’s song is from the film Durga-1939, a film made by the prestigious Bombay Talkies. The film was directed by the studio’s German Director – Franz Osten. Some readers may wonder, how a German could direct a Hindi film, without knowing or understanding the language ? For such readers, let me tell you that Franz Osten directed not just 1 or 2 but a total of 16 films for Bombay Talkies, from its beginning. Till the end, he never learnt Hindi language ! He was not the lone German , but there was a whole team of Germans who worked in Bombay Talkies !

| Teri dayaa se ae daayee | 12.10.2011 |
| Kaun tujhe samjhaaye | 09.04.2020 |
| Prem ka naataa chhootaa | 09.04.2010 |
| Rat Shiv naam ki maalaa, is naam se jag ujiyaalaa | Being posted today |
Kaun tujhe samjhaaye*
(*HFGK mentions this song ‘kaun tujhe samjhaaye moorakh’ as multiple version song sung by Roopkumari (first version) and Pankaj Mallick and chorus (second version), however as noted in the post for this song above the female version of this song is not there in the movie. However, this song ‘kaun tujhe samjhaaye moorakh’ appears in two parts and since both the parts of this song are covered, we can conclude that seven songs of this movie are already covered on the blog.
