The tale of Tarzan was used in Hindi movies beginning from 1937. The original Hindi Tarzan movie was called “Toofaani Tarzan” (1937). This movie was a Wadia Movietone production. It was directed by Homi Wadia. The movie had John Cawas in the title role. “Vidyapati” (1937) was directed by Debaki Bose. This movie had Pahadi Sanyal in the title role with Kanan Devi acting opposite him. This movie also had Prithviraj Kapoor, Chhaya Devi, K C Dey, Kidar Sharma and Leela Desai.
