“Devdas” (1955) was a Bimal Roy Production movie. It was produced and directed by Bimal Roy. The movie had Dilip Kumar, Vaijayantimala, Johnny Walker, Pran, Suchitra Sen, Motilal, N. Hussain etc in it.
As many as seven songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is another song from the movie.
This song is a slow melancholic song. It is sung by Talat Mehmood. Sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman whose birth anniversary falls today (10 october).

I agree. Years ago, I had an LP titled ‘Talat in a blue mood’. Every song was ‘lajawab’!

Lovely Talat solo. I was kind of oblivious of the great music set up by SDB for Devdas. Now I am kind of re-discovering it and, I must add, thoroughly enjoying it too.

Thank you Nitin-ji. This song too, like all the others in ‘Devdas’, is a beautiful number. The melancholy, despair and brooding of Devdas has been brought out so poignantly by Talat-saab.
