LOST AND FOUND-GEMS FROM UNRELEASED FILMS…Song No. 12…LAST SONG OF THIS SERIES
———————————————————————————–
Today’s song is a real Gem in this series. In the period 1931 to 1940, there were only 7 unreleased films, out of which information is available on the records of only 3 films. This is/may be because though having records for the film songs issued commercially had started from 1932, it had not caught momentum till late 30s. Madhuri-1932 was the FIRST film for which commercial records were issued with the Film and Singer’s name mentioned on the Record label. Obviously, this film ‘Stove Tragedy’ whose song we are going to enjoy today, must have been made after 1932.

Nainon se naina milaa ke : Song No. 10
——————————————–
Here we are at the tenth and final song of the series ‘Nainon se naina milaa ke ‘. When I started this series, I had just three songs with similar mukhda’s one of which is the tenth song. The duet from ‘ Shahkaar ‘ and Geeta Roy solo from ‘Hamaari Manzil’ were the other two. So I had thought of keeping it short and sweet with these three songs.

The Voice of Mukesh #58
– – – – – – – – – – – – – –
Yes, I return to 1948 again today. A song that has been pending, for want of being located. And now I have it. The film is ‘Chaand Sitaare’. And lo, what a gem of a song has been discovered. Every time such a thing happens, i.e. coming across an unheard and a very obscure gem, there is such a feeling of exhilaration on the discovery. And also, the reassurance that there still are many such songs waiting out there in what we call the ocean of Hindi film music, all waiting for someone to pick them up and bring up to the surface and to the attention of the listeners. Oh yes, I am sure many people with a long association with this love of Hindi film music would have heard of this and other such lost gems. But getting to it and finding out that it is now available online, gives such a sense of accomplishment.

Today, I feel like shri Vitthalpant Kulkarni-father of Sant Gyaneshwar (Dnyaneshwar)-who had come back to Grihasthashram from his Sanyas. He came back to this material world, on the instructions of his Guru, as he was destined to give birth to the Saint.

Hindi Film Industry is like an ocean. As many rivers finally join the sea and lose their individuality, many artistes from all over the country join this industry and then lose their identity. Few are lucky and Talented who not only protect their identity but are also remembered for a long time. What happens to the artistes after they end their career ? Where do they go, what do they do ?
