Mukesh was brought to Bombay (now Mumbai) in late 1930s by Motilal (a distant relative) who had seen him singing a song at Motilal’s sister’s wedding. While at Bombay, Mukesh got the opportunity to act and sing in a movie called “Nirdosh” (1941). This movie also had Nalini Jaiwant.It is interesting to note that Mukesh first acted in movies in 1940s, whereas his grandson (Neil Nitin Mukesh) is acting in movies more than six decades later. This is a very well known song- in fact an iconic song. This song is a bullock cart song sung by Mukesh. All these days I thought that this song was from a Raj Kapoor movie. So it came as a surprise to me when I realised that this song is actually from a Dilip Kumar movie.
