“Zindagi Aur Toofaan” (1975) was a movie which had Sajid Khan,Yogita Bali, Helen etc playing important roles in it. This movie was an “art” movie as low budget movies were then called. It was based on a Hindi novel by a noted Hindi author. On you tube, someone mentioned this novel as “Meri Kashti” by Mahaveer Adhikari, though I cannot vouch for the authenticity of this information.

The movie is called “Phir Subah Hogi” (1958) which was a serious movie. Moreover, the actors, singers, music director and lyricist of this movie are also known for creating serious stuff. And most songs of this movie are indeed serious songs.

Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand were the three biggest male stars of Bollywood movies for nearly two decades. Considering that song and dance plays such important roles in Bollywood movies, including the movies in which these actors acted, it is interesting to note that Raj Kapoor and Dev Anand successfully dodged dancing in their movies.

“Teesri Kasam” (1966) was a labour of love created by Shailendra. It had some lovely songs in it which were penned by Shailendra himself, excepting two. This song is one of the two songs that have been written by Hasrat Jaipuri.

“Opera House” (1961) , which is a forgotten movie, starred Ajit and B Saroja Devi in lead roles. Since the movie was a B grade movie, its songs did not have the opportunity to get popular because not too many people got to listen to them.

“Anokhi Ada” to me was a movie of 1970s starring Jeetendra and Vinod Khanna, but I came to know that there was another movie of this name in 1948 too. Why did these oldtimers choose the same name as a new movie and then had some boring music in that- this is what I used to think in 1970s.

When “Neki aur Badi” (1949), the first movie of Roshan as a music director flopped, the sensitive music director was so disappointed that he reportedly wanted to commit suicide. Kidar Sharma, who gave him his first break, gave him his second break too, in “Baawre Nain” (1950). The songs of this movie became popular and Roshan, as they say, never looked back since.
