Today’s song is from the film Aage Kadam-1943. It was made by Acharya Art productions, Bombay. It was directed by N.R.Acharya for his own banner. There were two Music Directors. One was Madholal master and the other was Ramchandra Pal (who was earlier in Bombay Talkies). All the 8 songs of this film were written by Kailash Matwala. The cast included Motilal, Anjali devi, Mubarak, Rajkumari Shukla, Leela Mishra, padma banerjee, Master amritlal, Leela pawar, Narbada Shankar etc.

Many film artists – actors, singers, directors etc – have written their autobiography. If you take a look at all these, the females have more autobios than the males, for reasons not known to me. In my last few years of activity in the arena of old films, I have collected many books and have received many books as ‘Gifts’ from the authors. Among these, there are many autobios, including the autobio of C Ramchandra, music director of today’s film Sipahiya-1949.

It had Shatrughan Sinha, Reena Roy, Pran, Madan Puri, Anwar Hussain, Birbal, Sulochana, Baldev Khosa, Mac Mohan, Shabana, Ranveer Raj, Hareesh, Vandana Shastri, Jankidas, Jagdish Raj, Vikas Anand, Azad, Rajan Kapoor, Master Raju and others. Raza Murad, Bindu and Rajendra Nath had special appearances in this movie. This movie was passed by Censor Board on 20.04.1978. This movie has four songs written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and R.D Burman was the composer for this movie. Asha Bhonsle, Hemant Kumar, Kishore Kumar, Mohd Rafi and Manna Dey were the singers for the songs in this movie.

In my last article, I discussed the film, ‘Naache Naagin Baaje Been’ (1969) which was written and produced by Devi Sharma (19/10/2021 – 30/03/2010). I got acquainted with his name when I had watched his films, ‘Ganga Ki Laharen’ (1964) and ‘Gunaahon Kaa Devta’ (1967)” in my younger days. Meerut born Devi Sharma was a writer and got attracted to the glamour world of Hindi films. He shifted to Mumbai and debuted as a co-producer with Wasti for ‘Basre Ki Hoor (1956). His first independent film as a producer and writer under his banner, Janta Chitra was ‘Taxi Stand’ (1958). The next as a producer-writer was ‘Kaali Topi Laal Roomaal’ (1959).

Once I post the century post in the blog, I heave a big sigh of relief and tell myself that I am free from tension as the next century post is far far away. So it came as a surprise to me that the next cenbtury post for the blog has arrived. I thought that the previous blog century post had appeared just a few days ago ! How can we reach the next century so fast ? On checking up, I realised that the previous century post viz blog post number 18500 has appeared on 14 september 2024. Today is 3 November, so fifty days have passed. 100 songs in 50 days are to be expected, even with the slow rate of posts that we have settled into now a days.

The movie had Dharmendra, Rajshree, Mehmood, Nazir Hussain, Chaand Usmani, Deven Verma, Badri Prasad, Sunder, Man Mohan, Madhavi, Kundan, Kesho(Keshav Rana), Parasram, Kirti aka Kirti Kumar, Raj Dewan, Dinanath, Johnny Whiskey, etc. O.P. Nayyar was the music director for songs written by S.H. Bihari. Mahendra Kapoor, Mohd.
