“Anpadh” (1962) is known as a movie that contained a couple of immortal ghazals that earned Madan Mohan the sobriquet of “Ghazal King” from Lata and earned high praise from Naushad who opined that these two ghazals was equal to all the musical creations of Naushad. Coming from Lata and Naushad, that was high praise indeed.

Yesterday was 15th august, the independence day of India, and today, the very next day, is another important festival of India, namely Rakhi or rakshabandhan. As far as Bollywood songs are concerned, there are quite a few Rakhi songs that have made their mark. But this song, perhaps the oldest one, continues to set the benchmark, and this benchmark is yet to be bettered.
So enjoy this fabulous rakhi song sung by Lata. Lyrics are by Shailendra and music is by Shankar Jaikishan. The movie is Chhoti Behan ( 1959). wow, they do not make songs like this now a days.
