Today’s song is from a very obscure film- Aage Kadam-1943.

The film made by Acharya Art productions, Bombay was so obscure that despite having leading and popular stars of those times, the film not only flopped, but no traces of it are available now.We do not know about its story, though from its sings it looks like a Love story with twists But then this is only our guess.

The film was directed by N.R.Acharya. Songs were written by Kailash Matwala- a name not known to many people because he wrote songs for films which were not popular, like Uljhan-1942, Aadab Arz-1943, Aage Kadam-1943, Vijay laxmi-1943, Mujrim-1944 etc. He was the elder brother of the famous actor On Shivpuri. he was from Jodhpur. He had acted and sung in some equally obscure films. At a very young age, he was afflicted with mental illness at 22 years. He died on 2-11-1994.

Kamsune/Unsune songs of Asha Bhosle – 63

The next song in the rare AB series is a duet she sang with Mohd. Rafi.

“Teri Saason Mein” by Mohd. Rafi & Asha Bhosle from “Shaadi Se Pehle” (1980)

This duet is written by Gauhar Kanpuri and composed by Sapan Jagmohan from Shadi Se Pehle 1980.

The fun part is that this song has been recreated by recycling their earlier song “Koi Deewana Tumhe Chahega” from Teri Talash Mein 1968 – Almost 12 years ago. The original song was sung by Rafi + Asha, written by Naqsh Lyallpuri and composed by Sapan Jagmohan from “Teri Talash Mein” (1968).

“Shaadi Se Pehle” has been made under the banner of SM productions and is directed by Karunesh Thakur. The music is composed by Sapan Jagmohan, and the lyrics are written by Gauhar Kanpuri. The cast of actors lists the lead actors are new – Praveen Sood and Shahnaaz, supported by Rajendranath, Raj Mehra, Komilla Wirk, Poornima, Jagdish Raj, Dheeraj Kumar, etc.

Today’s song is a funny, ‘Anokhe Bol’ song from an iconic 86 year old film-Aadmi-1939.

The year was 1939 and the British Government had declared war against Germany and Japan, as soon as the WW II began. All countries ruled by Britain were – willingly or unwillingly, drawn into the war efforts and its effects. The war began in the month of September and soon various restrictions came into operation – like rationing, blackouts, shortages etc. The film industry which was still under its development stage suffered. It also realised the importance of remaining united as one industry. However, all that came after 1 or 2 years. In 1939 there was not much effect seen on the film industry.

Today’s song is from the film ‘Kisaan Kanya’ from 1937. This movie is famous for being the first indigenously made colour film of India, by Ardeshir Irani’s Imperial Film Company. Film pioneer Irani was also the first to make an international co-production, with Italy – the film ‘Nala Damayanti’ – a silent film of 1920. Secondly, and more importantly, he also holds the honour of making and releasing India’s first talkie film ‘Alam Ara’ in 1931. And with the film ‘Kisaan Kanya’, he achieved a hat trick of ‘First in India’ credit in film making.

#The Decade of Seventies – 1971 – 1980 #
—————————————————————————

Today 24th October 2025 is the fourteenth remembrance day of the legendary singer Manna Dey ( Real name Prabodh Chandra Dey). He was born on 01.05.1919 and he passed away on 24.10.2013.

Music lovers here are already aware about him and much has already been written about his greatness and versatility as a singer, so I am not going to repeat it all here again. But I would definitely like to mention here that I am a big fan of his singing and I have always enjoyed and cherished listening to the songs sung by Manna Dey, whichever genre they are from – classical, semi-classical, sugam sangeet or qawwaalees etc. He has also sung many songs which fall under the category of philosophical songs and ‘songs with a message’.

Today I am presenting one such rare song here. This song is a rare song because it is from an un-released movie of the seventies. I don’t know how many of us have listened to this song. I came across this song around two-three years back and I had mentioned this while presenting another song from this same un-released movie here on the blog earlier.
