“Raat Ke Raahi”(1959) was directed by Naseem for Pushpaanjali Pictures, Bombay. This “social” movie had Shammi Kapoor, Jabeen Jalil, Anwar, Achla sachdev, Nazeer Hussain, Ifthikhar, Radhika, Hammad, Manohar, Prem Sagar, Nirmal, Poonam, Heera, Shashibalka, Shujaat, Pyare, Sooraj etc in it.

The movie had six songs in it. Five of these songs have been covered. Here are the details of these five songs:-

Here is the sixth and final song from “Raat Ke Raahi”(1959) to appear in the blog. The song is basically sung by Asha Bhonsle with some humming by a male voice. Left to my own devices, I would have guessed that Shammi Kapoor himself has done the humming, but HFGK informs us that this song is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Agha Sarwar who was assistant music director of this movie. HFGK also informs us that the record of the song only contains the name of Asha Bhonsle.

I think that the song is an Asha Bhonsle solo but since HFGK contains the name of the male hummer so let us go with HFGK and treat this song as a duet song.

The song is picturised on Jabeen Jaleel who is seen wooing Shammi Kapoor in a beach (Chaupati, I guess).

Vishwamitra Adil is the lyricist.

Two songs in the movie were composed by Jaidev and remining four songs were composed by Bipin Baabul. This song is a Bipin Baabul composition.

With this song, “Raat Ke Raahi”(1959) joins the list of movies that have all their songs covered in the blog.

This song also becomes the 500th song from Hindi movies that were released in the year 1959. “Raat Ke Raahi”(1959) becomes the 50th movie of 1959 to be YIPPEED in the blog.

Here is the fifth song from “Raat Ke Raahi”(1959) to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Asha Bhonsle. Vishwamitra Adil is the lyricist. Music is composed by Bipin Baabul.

The song is picturised on as a party/ get together song on Jabeen Jaleel (as far as I can tell). Shammi Kapoor is also visible alongwith several other people and all of them are shown dancing in this western style song.

Song-Daayen baayen chhup chhupa ke (Raat Ke Raahi)(1959) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Vishwamitra Adil, MD-Bipin Baabul

Lyrics

daayen baayen chhup chhupaa ke kahaan chale
haaye haaye
dil churaa ke kahaan chale
daayen baayen chhup chhupaa ke kahaan chale
haaye haaye
dil churaa ke kahaan chale
bade bane bhole bhaale
lalalalalala

aasaan hai ae mere pyaare
aankhon se aankhen milaana
ho
lekin ye neechi nigaahen kah dengi saara fasaana
mushqil hai naadaan ye chori chhupaana
daayen baayen chhup chhupa ke kahaan chale
haaye haaye dil churaa ke kahaan chale
bade bane bhole bhaale
aa ha ha ha ha ha

jaate ho thhukra ke jaao
koi bhi kuchh na kahega
ho
ho lekin ye haara hua dil
zaalim ye badla to lega
dekho ji tumko bhi jeene na dega
daayen baayen chhup chhupa ke kahaan chale
haaye haaye dil churaa ke kahaan chale
bade bane bhole bhaale
lalalalaala

jaane ki laakhon hain raahen
aane ka ik raasta hai
haaye
dil ke isi raaste se
aana padega ??
phir shokh jaana to jhoothhi ada hai
yeah
yeah
yeah

“Daawat”(1974) was produced by Dilip Dutt and directed by B R Ishaara. The movie had Sanjeev Kumar, Dilip Dutt, Raza Murad, Satish Kaul, Sarita, Manmohan Krishnan, Jaishree Gadkar, Johnny Walker, Pammi etc in it.

This obscure movie had four obscure songs in it. Here is the first song from “Daawat”(1974) to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Mukesh and Asha Bhonsle. Naqsh Llayalpuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Bipin Baabul.

Only the audio of the song is available. Lisateing to the song, one can guess that it is a “sulking-appeasing” genre of song. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the movie as well as on the picturisation of the song.

With this song, “Daawat”(1974) makes its debut in the blog.

Song-Aise bhi na roothho tum ke jeena mushqil ho (Daawat)(1974) Singers-Mukesh, Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Naqsh Llayalpuri, MD-Bipin Babul

Lyrics

rang bhari shaam galey mil ke guzaar lo
ja re piya jaaana nahin toone mere dil ko
aise bhi na rootho tum ke jeena mushqil ho
aise bhi na rootho tum ke jeena mushqil ho

ja ja ke mile tu shahar ke ujaalon se
rista hi kya hai
rista hi kya hai tera ab gaanv waalon se
mujhko hansaaye kabhi mujhe rulaaye tu
mujhko hansaaye kabhi mujhe rulaaye tu
samjha hai toone kya khilauna mere dil ko

aise bhi na rootho tum ke jeena mushqil ho
aise bhi na rootho tum ke jeena mushqil ho

jitne bharam hain wo dil se nikaal do
chupke se baahen meri baahon mein daal do
waada karo ke kabhi tum nahin todoge
waada karo ke kabhi tum nahin todoge
wada karo ke kabhi tum nahin todoge
piya mere sapnon ke sheesh mahal ko

aise bhi na rootho tum ke jeena mushqil ho
aise bhi na rootho tum ke jeena mushqil ho
ja re piya jaana nahin toone mere dil ko
aise bhi na rootho tum ke jeena mushqil ho
aise bhi na rootho tum ke jeena mushqil ho

“Bus Conductor”(1959) was produced by Ashok Bhambhri and directed by Dwarka Khosla for Sharda Films, Bombay. the movie had Shyama, Premnath, Amarnath, Maruti, Satish Batra, Sujata, Umesh Sharma, ramlal, Khairati, Narbada Shankar, Ameer NBano, Sadhana, Surya Kumar, Helen, Kanchanmala, Sheila Vaz, Cuckkoo etc in it.

The movie had six songs in it. Four of these songs have been covered in the past.

Here is the fifth song from “Bus Conductor”(1959) to appear in the blog. The song is sung by Rafi, Asha Bhonsle and chorus. Noor Dewasi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Bipin Babul.

Only the audio of this song is available. Guessing from the OP Nayyar like music as well as the lyrics, this song has to be a dance song where the lead pair accompanied by other dancers indulge in this “teasing war” of the genders. The tune alternates between Punjabi folk music and Maharashtrian Lavani folk music.

I have not been able to get a few words right in the lyrics. I request our readers with keener ears and understanding of the languages to help fill in the blanks/ suggest corrections. I also request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.

Indian film industry is one of the biggest film industries of the world-by way of number of films produced(together in all languages) and the number of people involved in this industry. There was some kind of a survey data published on an Internet site ( now defunct)a few years ago, which published a list of 7000+ names of actors and actresses in Hindi films from 1931 to 2000 AD. Dr Surjit singh ji put the list on RMIM forum and I copied it from there.
