The more songs I post, the more I realise how small is the collection of songs in this blog vis a vis the sheer volume of quality songs that are not yet covered. I am approaching 2000 songs in this blog, but I feel that I have only scratched the surface so far.

Salim and Anarkali have been a favourite topic of Bollywood movies in 1950s and 1960s. In 1950s, there was in fact a movie called “Anarkali” (1953) which was a musical blockbuster. It had Pradeep Kumar and Bina Rai in the roles of Salim and Anarkali respectively. In 1960, “Mughal e Azam” was produced, where Dilip Kumar and Madhubala played these roles. This movie was just as big a musical blockbuster as “Anarkali” (1953).

I had posted a remarkable comedy song from “Bandi” (1957) which was sung by Kishore Kumar and picturised on hmself. Now I find that this movie has a great serious song too, once again sung by Kishore Kumar and picturised on himself.

“Kaise Kahoon” (1964) was a movie starring Vishwajeet and Nanda. I had not heard about this movie in the past. It is only now that I have been discovering that this movie had some nice songs in it.

I had heard this song many a times as a kid in late 1960s. I had no inkling which movie this song was from but that did not prevent me from liking this song. From the voice I could make out that this song was sung by Lata. Yes, I could make out the difference between various singers even in those days.

Mat samjho neer bahaati hoon

What a magical song this is ! but then I should not be surprised, considering that the music director of this song is S Mohinder. He is one of those music directors,who failed to get enough opportunities despite possessing as much talent and ability as any other music directors.
