The storyline of their films with captivating music by R C Boral, Pankaj Mullick and Timit Baran mostly based on Rabindra Sangeet attracted audience to the cinema halls. DOCTOR (1941) was no exception. The film was directed by Phani Majumdar and Subodh Mitra. The star cast included Pankaj Mullick, Panna Rani, Ahindra Choudhury, Bharti Devi, Jyoti Prakash, Amar Mullick, Nemo, Indu Mukherjee etc. Songs were written by Arzoo Lucknowi and A H Shor which were set to music by Pankaj Mullick. “Kavita” (1944) is by now a forgotten movie and hardly any details of this movie are available now. From the little that is available on internet, it would seem that this movie was directed by Mahesh Chandra and this movie had Ratnamala and Umakant in it (and not necessarily as the lead pair of the movie).

Ah, the fiftieth song in this series. We are continuing to track the progress of Mukesh as a singer across the years of his career. And today we reach the 50th post in this journey starting from 1941.
And the number got me thinking – we need something special for the occasion.

The Voice of Mukesh #51
– – – – – – – – – – – – –
The year 1950 saw the release of 36 songs by Mukesh, from 16 films. (This information is as per the Mukesh Geet Kosh). Of these, we already have 28 songs posted here on this blog. This is the 29th Mukesh song from the year 1950. I am continuing the search for the rest. I have been able to locate five more songs, but two songs are still eluding me. One song is from the film ‘Bebas’ – a solo song “Do Dil Hon Do Dilon Ko Ulfat Ka Sahara Ho”. The second song is from the film ‘Preet Ka Geet’ – a group song along with Zohrabai and Geeta Dutt, “Paayal Bole Re”. I request friends and readers on this blog to kindly share any information about the availability of these songs.
