The record of the events and the times while the struggle against the alien rule was in progress, as it is known and as it has been showcased in the sixty eight years since, is limiting in its focus and its willingness to fairly acknowledge the role and the contributions of many a stalwarts whose names and information has dissipated over time. Ah, but that is what history is all about. The story as recorded by the hunter, by the victor, by the kings and the royalty who would commission favored scholars to compile accounts for posterity, favorable to the ruling dynasty. Over passages of years and decades, such compilations would gain the status of historical record.

GEMS FROM THE MIGRATORS…..song no.10…LAST SONG OF THE SERIES.
——————————————————————-
After Partition in 1947, it did not take long for things to become normal in the Indian film industry. This was mainly because ready replacements were available in plenty to fill the vacancies caused by migration. As far as producers and financers were concerned, almost all producers and film makers had arrived here from Lahore. It was actually Lahore which felt the absence of Film makers. Pakistan film Industry was somehow managed well by the experienced people who went from India and Pakistan enjoyed a ” GOLDEN AGE OF FILMS AND MUSIC ” from 1959 to 1977. Once the old generation retired, there was no second line to take over from them.

GEMS FROM THE MIGRATORS…song no. 5
—————————————
So far, I have done 16 series here. This is the 17th series. Writing for a series is not an easy job.It not only requires lot of spade work, but also requires a continuous flow, avoiding a long gap between 2 posts, lest the tempo is lost. When I start a series, I am always in lot of tension till it is completed successfully. Every series is a new beginning for me. In spite of all this (and the ensuing allegations of ” neglect ” from the family ) I enjoy doing this work. There are many Blogs on internet which do posts on theme like ” Cycle songs”, Motor songs” or Sawan songs etc. I have always felt that Atul ji’s Blog is not an ordinary one and it must have real specially made exclusive topics for series I could do these posts, because Atul ji has always helped me with the Lyrics and has encouraged me always. Thanks Atul ji.

“Genius is one percent inspiration and 99% perspiration”. This declaration has been made by Albert Einstein, the one who himself is regarded as one of the greatest ever. For the perceptive minds, it is ever so the experience that whenever we witness people who are considered consistent achievers, and accomplishments that are significantly impressive, then a little bit of probing behind the bright lights will reveal a whole amount of dedicated hard work behind the achievements. When we see an acrobat so effortlessly doing some wondrous acrobatics, one should not just stop at the amazement that the protagonist has made this difficult trick look very simple. We should also realize the importance of the fact that the same person spends maybe twelve to fourteen hours every day to practice the trick that is played out in a few minutes for the audience.

THE JOY OF NFS (Song No. 4)
——————————-
From my house towards Juhu, there is a building at the corner of Gulmohar Circle which has a board- ‘Karachi Residents’ Association’. On enquiry I discovered that this was a building owned by Sindhi speaking Hindu and Muslims people who resided in Karachi before Partition. I was told that 5-6 such buildings exist all over Mumbai. On further enquiries, I was informed that there were a few buildings of ‘Lahore Residents Association’ also (Punjabi speaking Hindus and Muslims). When I met one of the residents of ‘Lahore’ wala building, that old gentleman was speaking so lovingly about old Lahore that I was surprised. Even after 65 years of partition, these people had such fondness for Lahore. . . or Karachi, for that matter.

If one tries to find details about “Nishaani” (1942) in one of the typical know all sites that claim to have all the information about all the movies, then one will mostly draw a blank, with most of the space occupied by advetisements.
