“Jogi mat jaa” is a very popular Meerabai bhajan, made famous during yester-years by Juthika Roy and M S Subbulakshmi and later on by Geeta Roy, Lata Mangeshkar and many other singers. Even in Classical field it was made immortal by Pandit Omkarnathji Thakur.

This is the rarest of the rare song of Rafi, from an unreleased film of the seventies ‘Ek Bulbula Paani Ka’, for which I do not have any details. Even HFGK is silent about it. This is the only song from the film which is available.

Today, in the second installment of this new series of songs by Rafi Sb, I bring this exuberant song of ‘chhed chhaad’ from an unreleased film from the 1960s. The film is ‘Jaan Bachi Laakhon Paaye’. We have one song from this film already posted a little over one year ago – “Teri Zulf Mein Chun Ke Champa Ki Kaliyan”, another delightful creation, in the voice of Mahendra Kapoor and Sharda.

The movie, which made news for its “bold” theme that fetched it A certificate, had Rehana Sultan, Anil Dhawan(Introducing), Master Amir, Johnny Whiskey, Dilip Dutt, V.Gopal, Vijay Malhotra, Anand Narula, Pardesi, Hameed, Abbas, Tukaram, Mohan Nadkarni, Santosh Kumar, Rafiq, Gyan Chand, Sultan Sahab, Abhijeet Sen etc in it with Guest Artistes namely Shatrughan Sinha, Nadira, Asit Sen, Laxmi Chhaya, Manmohan Krishna etc also figuring in the movie.
