“Daroga jee” (1949) was a one woman show all the way. This movie, produced by Nargis Arts (Nargis’ home production) was meant to show Nargis’ ability to sing all kinds of songs. So far as many as seven songs picturised on Nargis have been discussed in this blog, in which she was shown singing romantic song, broken heart song, bullying shopkeepers song, etc etc.

“Gareebi” (1949) is a movie about which very little information is available on internet. Fortunately, we have our own encyclopaedia Mr Arunkumar Deshmukh, who was not only around when these movies were released, but on many cases he even watched such movies and took notes.

“Dil Ki Basti” (1949) is an obscure movie which was produced by Aaina Pictures and directed by Wahid Qureshi. The movie had Masood, Nigar Sultana, Amar, Urmila, Lalita Pawar, Tiwari etc in it.

“Gareebi” (1949) is a movie that was produced by Ranjit Movie company. It was directed by Ramchandra Thakur and the star cast of the movie included names like Geeta Bali, Jairaj, Nirupa Roy, P. Kailash, Usha Kiran, Ramesh Thakur, Jawahar Kaul etc in it.

“Raat Ki Raani” (1949) was a J S Pictures presentation.Jagdish Sethi, who was the owner of the J S Pictures was also the director of this movie. He in fact acted in this movie too. The movie had Munawwar Sultana, Shyam, Sulochana Chatterji, Madan Puri, Jagdish Sethi, Om Prakash, Chaman Puri etc in it.

I am aware of a movie called “Dada” (1978). Later I found out that another movie of the same name was released in 1966 too. Both these movies incidentally had the same music director, viz Usha Khanna.
Now I find that there was another movie of the same name, which was released in 1949.
