“Tel Maalish Boot Polish” (1961) is a B grade movie which was produced by Rajan films and it was directed by Romney Dey. This movie had Sheikh Mukhtar, Chandrashekhar, Kumkum, Madan Puri, Agha, Amar, Radhika etc in it. This is the kind of B grade movie that had good scope foe being successful, what with this being an action movie with the original action hero in Sheikh Mukhtar. The fact that this movie had great music as befitting a B grade movie also helped.

“Bhaabhi Ki Choodiyaan” (1961) is a movie that, for most people, is associated with the immortal song Jyoti kalash chhalke. “Amar Rahe Ye Pyaar” (1961) is a movie about which very little information is available online. The only information I have been able to collect about the starcast of this movie is that it had Nalini Jaiwant, Rajendra Kumar and Nanda in it. Apparently, this movie flopped at the box office despite the presence of Jubilee Kumar in it.

I am aware of three movies called “Sanjog” and I have discussed songs from all three of these movies. I have discussed as many as five songs from “Sanjog” (1960). This movie had Pradeep Kumar and Anita Guha in lead roles.

The decades of 50s and 60s are known as the golden age of Hindi film music, and that for a good reason. The quality of music and songs was absolutely superb, no matter what the content of the films used to be. One just has to untwine one thread on this time line, and immediately there is a gem of a song to be heard. Maybe it is an obscure film, maybe the song itself is unheard, or not heard for ages. Maybe the sound of the song is such that the first reaction is, whose voice is this, whose composition is this. But just let the song play and simply listen to it, and before long you will start loving it, and now the reaction would be, where has been this gem hiding all these years. Atul ji has written over and over again about this phenomena, about finding unheard gems from obscure movies, with every plunge one takes into this ocean of music.

Another one of those songs that must find its due place on this blog. This is a gem of a Talat rendition, that has been a favorite of mine since childhood. As I listened to it again today, I checked and realized it is not yet posted. And so here it is, a very melodious and hummable soft creation that simply steals into your heart.
