I became aware of “Puraskaar” (1970) after Memsaab reviewed this movie in her blog. It turns out that the movie is a treasure of great songs. I wonder how I was not aware of this movie when it was released in 1970s, seeing that this movie had music by R D Burman and I, like most music lovers was a big fan of R D Burman’s music.

“Inspector” (1970) was a movie which was produced by Chand and directed by S K Kapoor. The movie had Joy Mukherjee, Alka, Helen, Rajendra Nath, Kiran Kumar, Zeb Rehman, Samina, Murad, M.B. Shetty, Asha Nadkarni, Jayant etc in it.

“Mera Naam Joker” (1970) was an ambitious movie of Raj Kapoor which unfortunately failed big time at the box office when it was released. The box office debacle was so big that it took Raj Kapoor quite some time to recover from it, and when he recovered, he had made a clean break from the past, in the sense that his musical team was totally revamped.

“Naya Raasta” (1970) was produced by I A Nadiadwala and directed by Khalid Akhtar. Starcast of the movie included Asha Parekh, Jeetendra, Jayshree T., Lalita Pawar, Balraj Sahni, Sujit Kumar, Veena, Farida Jalal, Roopesh Kumar etc.

“Suhaana Safar” (1970) is an obscure movie despite being a “recent” movie by the standards of this blog :). The movie was produced by R C Kumar and directed by Vijay. Its starcast had Shashi Kapoor, Sharmila Tagore, David Abraham, Lalita Pawar, K. N. Singh, Om Prakash, Tiwari, Bhagwan, Sunder, Manmohan Krishna, Leela Misra, Randhir, Mukri, Keshto Mukherjee etc in it. Now we know why the movie was obscure despite being a recent movie :).

In this blog, there are songs that belong to the category of “Why was this song not discussed earlier” category. Then there are cases of movies where the movie itself was/is not represented in the blog. “Aradhana” (1969) was one movie that was not represented for a long time. Janaury 12th is the birth anniversary of the great maestro Ramchandra Narhari Chitalkar, well known in Hindi film industry as C Ramchandra and also Chitalkar as a playback singer. C Ramchandra (CR) was one of the prominent music directors belonging to the golden era of Hindi films songs. If one goes by the number of songs he had composed of joyous mood, I guess, he must have been a fun loving person.
