“Bathroom singing” is quite a popular hobby with many people. One reason for bathroom singing is that it is the only place where one could sing without being disturbed. Another esoteric reason is to tell people that you have occupied the bathroom. This is useful in case the door of the bathroom does not get locked ( especially useful for those staying in hostels).

This song is the title song of the movie called “Badalte Rishtey”. And this song also happens to be perhaps the best known and most popular song from this movie. This song is picturised in a typical Reena Roy fashion, viz it is a song sung by her in a party/ get together, just like Dharmendra used to do in 1960s.Rishi Kapoor and later Jeetendra also join her in singing this song.

After the mega success of Sholay, another film maker made another movie with its title beginning with “Sh..” and hyped it so much so that everyone thought that this movie was going to be the next Sholay. In addition to top Indian stars, it also boasted some international stars. But when the dust settled down, the movie had crashed with no trace of it remaining anywhere.

Hum bewafa hargiz na the

The biggest bollywood hit of all time was “Sholay” that was released in 1975. This movie played on the same movie hall of Bombay for many years. When this movie was finally withdrawn, it was replaced by another movie, which was being so hyped those days that everyone felt it was going to be the biggest movie in Bollywood history, bigger than even “Sholay”. But when “Sholay” was finally replaced by thise movie whose title sounded similar, viz “Shalimar”, this movie “Shalimar” turned out to be the biggest damp squib in the history of Bollywood.

I am sure no one recalls this 1978 movie called “Tumhaari Kasam”. In fact I do not think this movie was ever released in the parts of the country where I was growing up in 1970s. But I recall having heard this song and liking it.
Now that I have rediscoverd this song, after all of 30 years- and with the video of the song to boot, I realise that this beautiful song was picturised surprisingly well.
