Today 11th December’2022 is the 24th ‘Remembrance Anniversary’ of Ramchandra Narayanji Dwivedi whom we know by his pen-name Kavi Pradeep. He was born on 6th February 1915 and passed away on 11th December’1998.

I have repeatedly stressed the fact that there was nothing B grade about the music of these so called B and C grade movies. But as far as the public were concerned, the music of these movies would fail to catch up, mainly because of lack of exposure. Since most people would not watch these movies, they would not be aware of these songs, and the records of these songs would not be made and sold as a result of non popularity of these songs. So it was a catch 22 situation for the music of B grade movies.

When I started this blog,remembering which songs I had posted and which were yet to be posted was easy in the beginning. One could remember it in one’s mind. But as the number of songs increased, I needed to keep track of them, because sometimes ( on two or three occasions) I repeated the same song. Thankfully some of my alert readers pointed this fact out to me, and I replaced the duplicated song with another song.

Nirupa Roy, whom most movie goers recall as the perenielly suffering Maa of Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor, was actually a full fledged heroine in 1950s. She mostly acted as a leading lady in mythological movies opposite actors like Pradeep Kumar, Mahipal, Bharat Bhooshan etc.

“Baiju Baawraa” (1952) was a musical blockbuster the likes of which has never been seen again. It set such high standards that emulating them was going to be next to impossible for the movies that came.
