“Dharma”(1973) was directed by Chaand for Kapoor Films Bombay. This “social” movie had Naaveen Nischol, Rekha, Pran, Bindu, Ajeet, Ramesh Deo, Madan Puri, Faryal, Anjali Kadam, Paro, Asit Sen, Mohan Choti, Jayshree T, Rajan Haksar, Sonia Sahni etc in it.

Yesterday (12 july 2013) brought us the sad news that Pran, the legendary villain of 1950s and 60s who then turned a legendary character actor of later decades had breathed his last. Pran Krishan Sikand (12 february 1920- 12 july 2013) made his debut in Hindi movies with “Khaandaan” (1942) as a hero. This movie was produced in Lahore, his favourite place. He subsequently made a mark as a hero in Lahore movie circles.

As qawwalis go, this qawwali was hugely popular in 1970s. In fact, if this movie “Dharma” (1973) is still remembered, it is solely because of this qawwali.
