I have stumbled upon yet another “new” song for me. The movie is called “aao pyaar karen”. It has Joy Mukherjee and Saira Bano as the lead actors and this is a movie from 1964, so one can safely assume that the story line has got to be similar to Shammi Kapoor movies of those days.

Here is a song that is a perenniel favourite of kids and grown ups both. The song is very well known but few people can tell which movie this song was from. Even I keep forgetting, but it is good that my farmaish senders make my task easier by mentioning the name of the movie with their farmaishes.

What are the odds of you walking on a beach and stumbling upon gems every few steps ? Well, I have been exploring Bollywood music and I am coming across gems after gems. In some cases, I at least knew the names of the movies, and in some cases, I was not even aware about the name of the movie. Going by the lyrics, I have classified this song as a love song, but it appears that the love is unilateral in this song despite this being a duet. The hero, Joy Mukherjee is sincere in expressing his love for the lady, but the lady, Sadhana is just playing along, without feeling the same sentiments.

There is little doubt that this movie “Phir Wohi Dil Laaya hoon” is known mainly for its music. I have already posted a song from this movie. O P Nayyar, who ruled the roost in 1950s as a music director proved with this movie that he was capable of churning out good music in 1960s too.

O P Nayyar had taken the Bollywood music world by storm in 1950s.He dominated the Bollywood music scene in the late 1950s the way R D Burman would later dominate in 1970s. If Kishore Kumar was the singer who helped the domination of R D Burman in 1970s, then it was Asha Bhonsle who played a similar role in O P Nayyar’s dominance.

The hero Joy Mukherjee is leaving his home for ever, and certainly there has got to be some major reason behind this drastic step. His wife appears suitably chastened, repentent, etc, but that is too little too late, the decision has been taken and there is no going back.
