“Baawra” (1950) was directed by G Rakesh for Shri Durga Pictures. The movie had Raj Kapoor, Nimmi, Lalita Pawar, Hiralal, K N Singh, Sundar, Rattan Kumar etc in it.
One song from this movie has been discussed in the past. Here is the second song from the movie. this song is sung by Lata. Gaafil Harnalvi is the lyricist. Music is composed by Krishan Dayal.
Only the audio of this song is available. going by the starcast, the song could have been picturised on Nimmi though one cannot be sure of it. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the picturisation of this song.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by nahm.
Ed Note-Much later, It came to notice that this song also has a duet version, which is sung by Geeta Dutt and Rafi.

I had never heard of the film ‘Baawraa’ (1950) until last week. While browsing on the internet, I came across an audio clip of a song from this film. The song was ‘saahil jo dubo de kashti ko saahil ki tamanna kaun karen’. I liked the lyrics and the music composition with Rafi’s voice giving it a finishing touch as per the mood of the song. The song in theghazal format was written by Amarnath Khanna and set to music by Krishan Dayal. The film was produced under the banner of Shri Durga Pictures and directed by G Rakesh.

The name Sulochana Kadam may not ring bells for many except for old Hindi film songs buffs. I was not aware of this name as a playback singer in Hindi film industry until I got a 78 RPM gramophone record of her song ‘mausam aaya hai rangeen’ from film ‘Dholak’ (1951) sometime in early 70s. But I was aware of the name Sulochana Chavan as the famous lavani singer of Maharashtra.
