This song from Abhilasha (1968) is not so well known like the other two featured songs on the blog here. It is a Rafi-Manna Dey duet. Roshan used this combination of voices brilliantly in his qawaalis. This song, I think is the first time that Pancham uses this pair of voices.

Hi All
Today is a special day in the life of Mr. perfect Khan…. I mean Amir Khan. He turns a year older. It was exactly 25 years ago that he burst into filmdom with the song which I intend to discuss today. Come to think of it the other 2 Khans – Shahrukh and Salman– also complete 25 years in Bollywood.

This is one of those few songs that Mohammed Rafi sang for Music Director Anil Biswas for the film ‘Heer’ (1956). Eight songs from this film already posted in the blog. They are all very touching song. This is a film on the legend of Heer-Ranjha, a folk lore of Punjab. Much of the folk music and poetry from this region is devoted to such legendary love stories like Heer-Ranjha, Sohni-Mahiwal and Mirza-Sahibaan. This song ‘ le ja uss ki du’aayen ho jo tera ho na sakaa ‘ is the ninth song to appear in the blog.

“Phir wahi Raat” (1980) was produced by N N Sippy and directed by Danny. This suspense movie had Rajesh Khanna, Kim, Danny, Suresh Oeroi, Aruna Irani, Lalita Pawar, Jagdeep, A K Hangal, Shashikala, Mukri, Shubha Khote etc in it. This movie has many suspects and the least suspected person turns out to be the culprit in the last reel, as befits a classic whodunit. 🙂

Chandi Sona (1977), as the name points out at, is a film about treasure hunt on an island. Most probably a desi version of a Hollywood film. Sanjay Khan in his independent ventures favoured R D Burman. Even in this film it is Pancham, who gives the music.

In my last post I hoped that Saanp se badhke mera zehar hai would be the last song entry for Zehreela Insaan (1974). Prakashji, with his infinite knowledge of Hindi film songs, though threw water on this hope, when he showed me the existence of this song. Thanks Prakashji! 🙂
