Hanraj Behl started his career as a composer, in 1946 with the film Pujaari. He has been active in both the Hindi and Punjabi film industry as a music director. In Hindi films, he was active till 1974 (film released – Do Aankhen in 1974); and with Punjabi films he was active as late as 1982. He passed away in 1984. One of the films for which he had scored the music, was released many years after his departure. (Insaaf Ka Khoon, in 1991). With classical training background, his style of music has been semi classical and he has scored a large number of popular and famous songs.

Many people may remember a movie by the name Ek Din Ka Baadshah (1964). And if not the movie, many would be familiar with this wonderful song by Rafi Saab. Once you hear it, I am sure you will, say, oh yes, I remember this.

“Teen Sardaar” (1965) was a B grade movie with Randhawa, Parveen Chaudhary, Meenakshi, Azad etc in it. This movie today is as obscure as any B grade movie can be. Very little is known about this movie, and that includes its music.

“Haqdaar” (1964) is an obscure B grade movie which had actors like Bhagwan, Uma Devi, Ranjan, Nasreen, Ratnamala, Babu Raje etc in it. I have no idea what this movie was all about. it is obvious that the movie did not do well at the box office.

Khaayi thhi qasam ik raat sanam

“Dil Ne Pukaaraa”(1967) is a movie few people know about. That is not surprising, seeing that this movie had Shashi Kapoor, Sanjay Khan and Rajshree in lead roles. 🙂
