I am aware of at least two movies called “Shehnaayi”. One was “Shehnaayi”(1947) and another was “Shehnaayi” (1964). I have posted songs from both these movies.

When one thinks on the movie “Modern Girl” (1961), one thinks of the song Ye mausam rangeen samaan. This song is a very popular Mukesh song,and I associate this song with this movie whenever I hear the name of this movie.

When I was a youngster in my teens, I was under the impression that old songs meant boring songs, which were mostly like Ghazal, sad songs etc. But it is only much later that I realised that some wonderful light hearted songs too were created those days. Indian independence also brought partition, and it caused human suffering on a large scale. Quite a few movies were made on this subject. “Lahore” (1949), starring Karan Dewan and Nargis was one of the first such movies on this subject.

This is a song that I have heard many a times in my younger days. I was only aware of the fact that this song is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle, but that was all I knew about this song.
