“Baap Beti” (1954) is a very obscure movie and its songs are even more obscure. But what nice songs this movie has !
Here is a lovely song from this movie. This song is sung by Lata and chorus. Only the audio of this song is available, so it is difficult to guess how and whom this song is picturised. My guess is that a music teacher is teaching music to her pupils in this song.

Till a few days ago, I was not aware that Shammi Kapoor had worked opposite Bina Rai in a movie and that he had worked in a movie with music by Roshan. After I came to know of the songs of “Wallah Kya Baat Hai” (1962) I realised that this movie starred Shammi Kapoor and Bina Rai and it had music by Roshan. Other actors of this movie were Nishi, K.N.Singh, Maruti, Tuntun, Abhi Bhattacharya, Mumtaz,Jankidass, Munshi Munaqqa, Rajan Kapoor etc. This movie was directed by Hari Walia.

Thanks to the invaluable informations provided by the readers through their comments, farmaishes, lyrics, e mails etc, I learn new things almost on a daily basis.

“Baap Beti” (1954) is an obscure movie. Not much information is available about this movie on internet, and the sketchy information available on it could well be misleading and wrong, seeing that Asha Parekh’s name gets mentioned as an actor in this movie, and that too in the entry of imdb ! That site also mentions that it is a Bimal Roy movie based on a Guy de Maupassant novel and that it had Nalini Jaiwant and Tabassum too in it. Now this information appears more likely. Tabassum , then a young kid could have played Beti. But who played the Baap ? I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this matter.

Though I subscribe to three newspapers daily, I rarely go through much of their contents and the newspapers finally end up with the “raddiwala” after a few months. But on saturdays I look forward to these newspapers, rather to one column of one newspaper. It is the “Swar panchami” column of Hindi newspaper “Dainik Bhaskar”. In this column, Vividh Bharati radio announcer Yunus Khan discusses a few old songs. And as can be guessed, this topic is right up my alley.

It is a song that I thought was already discussed but that was not the case. I am thankful to Prakashchandra for sending the lyrics of this song and thus reminding me that this song is yet to figure in the blog.
